Ernie graduated from Southwest High School in 1981. As a young man he had a keen eye in identifying winning horses and soon ventured with his father to the track to teach him the ins-and outs of horse racing! He was a dedicated son and family was always first on his list! Naturally, his first big win at the track went to helping his parents! He had a very generous side to his shy and tender nature.
Not only was he able to recognize winning horses, but he also had a talent for making you feel at ease. His unpretentious nature helped him establish lifelong friendships. Early in his career his many jobs included working as a bouncer at top nightclubs in San Diego, and Las Vegas.
Fishing, sports, planting chili peppers were another hobby he dabbled in. He was so skilled in making the best and hottest habanero salsa, that friends and family constantly would ask for more! Football Fantasy was another favorite and he made it a tradition to see the Super Bowl annually in Las Vegas!
His final break in his career came when he landed a much-desired job at Price Club, later known as Costco. If Ernie learned one thing from his father and dedicated mother, it was that you work hard and do your utmost best! He did this diligently for 32 years! He was a proud employee who received praise and recognition until the day he died!
After meeting the love of his life, Rose, the couple traveled extensively throughout Europe, Australia, Mexico, Cuba, and took many road trips and cruises together. Ernie was always ready for a new adventure. He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
