Enrique Q. Ochoa who was born on Aug 22, 1924, was a native of Colima, Colima in Mexico. He lived in San Diego, Ca. since 1964 and later became a US citizen. He left behind his wife, Rafaela Galindo, of 63 years. They had seven children; Esther Torres, Guillermina Ochoa, Enrique Ochoa, Gloria Rennison, Guadalupe Mercado, Luis Ochoa, and Felipe Ochoa. He will be missed by his 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind 3 brothers and many other friends and relatives. Enrique became a jeweler/watchmaker, just like his father and brothers. For years he worked for others but eventually opened his own business in downtown San Diego. After retiring, he continued to work from home and found hobbies to keep himself active at all times.
The second child of seven, Enrique, a devout Catholic, was a proud but conscientious man. He left school at a very young age so that he could help support his family. He worked at various jobs giving him experience and knowledge in home and machinery repairs. When he was old enough, he followed his father into the jewelry business and his pride was in giving the best quality of work in as little time as possible. He taught his children that hard work and honesty is what brings you respect and satisfaction if not riches. He loved God and prayed the rosary daily. His blessings were his family and treasured visits with them whenever possible. He was a great storyteller and loved to travel and be outdoors. He was passionate about history mostly if it meant learning about anything that had to do with his religion.
He enriched our lives with his positive energy. Many of us have embraced his religious beliefs and have attempted to reach the high moral standards which he modeled. His adult descendants have had the opportunity to further their education, improve their lives financially and many have received college degrees. It is because of his hard work, sacrifice and dedication to family that he leaves behind children and grandchildren, as well as others that are now making a difference in their communities. Enrique Q. Ochoa will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
