Elizabeth Gerken

Elizabeth “Liz” Gerken, 67, passed away on October 23, 2017 at the Parkview Hospice Home in Del Cerro. Liz was born in San Diego, CA and grew up in Pacific Beach. She attended school at St. Brigid Parish and graduated from Cathedral Catholic Girls High School in 1968. After graduation she trained as a Medical Assistant and worked for Dr. George Farrell in Pacific Beach for 6 years. In 1973 she married William “Bill” Gerken and for the next 25 years had the hardest job possible (a navy spouse) while raising two daughters, Amy and Natalie. For the past twenty years she was the Pastoral Secretary at St. Brigid Parish and held that position until her passing. Liz was preceded in death by her mother and father, Leon "Tut" and Kathy Tuttle and her younger brother Chris. She is survived by her husband Captain Bill Gerken, USN/Ret, her daughters Amy Gerken and Natalie Gerken Petersen, son-in-law Eric and grandsons, Emmett and Easton. She is also survived by her brothers Jim Tuttle and Charlie Tuttle and sister Mary Tuttle Thrasher. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Brigid Catholic Church on Friday, November 10. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made in Liz’s name to Grossmont Hospital Foundation, Parkview Hospice Home, PO Box 158, La Mesa, CA 91944....... ~
