Looking for a friend I met in El Cajon, CA. I used to check her into a room, and she always requested to speak with me because she found everyone else incompetent. She was bold and unapologetic. I remember her telling me that one of her siblings (I’m not sure if she has more than one) is a doctor. She called herself a historian and mentioned that her great-grandfather was one of the drummer boys in the Civil War. We shared stories about our family histories, and I’ve thought of her often over the years. She was never interested in social media or the internet. A tough spirit, she drove a blue Chevy. While many labeled her as complicated, she was always very sweet to me and reminded me of my grandmother.

I once asked her if she was married or had any children. In true Ms. Bishop fashion, she replied, “I never had any children and never married. My Prince Charming never found me; his horse probably got lost somewhere in the woods in search of me.” She laughed and invited me to visit her in her room whenever I wasn’t too busy.

I hope this isn’t the case, but I’m sharing this in hopes that a family member might recognize her and confirm if this is the same Eleanor Bishop I met in San Diego, CA, between 2009-2016.

I remember Elly Bishop as my mom's best friend who both attended Rosemont College in Philadelphia, PA. She and my mom where always spending time together and writing countless letters to  each other and their birthdays were a month apart born in the same year.

My mom past away last month and I came across some more letters today between the two of them as I sorted thru my mom's  belongings. The letters were great comfort to me as Elly would recount their college adventures together. 

I googled her name in the attempt to locate her and tell her of my mom's passing but instead found this obituary out there. I would be very much interested in hearing more about Elly Bishop from family/friends (assuming others are still around)...Bill Wolfe

I found Eleanor Cecilia Bishop's baby book in the original box along with some greeting cards Eleanor must have saved. The book records her birth as being Nov. 22, 1930 so this must be the same Eleanor. Details about her early life were written into the book. I was preparing to sell the little book on my Etsy shop then ran across this obituary. I would love to send the book free of any charge to a family member or friend who might want it. Perhaps there is a relative, grandchild, or friend who would cherish this family keepsake. Let me know and I will mail it directly to you.
