Elaine McElhinney (68) passed away at home in San Diego following a brief illness. She was born in Portland, Oregon to Francis and Barbara Biewer and spent her childhood moving around the country for her father’s Navy career. After graduating from Mount Saint Mary’s in Los Angeles, Elaine worked for the next 34 years for the county of Los Angeles as a social worker. She retired as a regional administrator for the Department of Children and Family Services. Her free time was taken up with a passion for traveling (she had visited 39 countries), baking (making amazing cupcakes for parties and weddings, among many other treats), photography (in which she won first place in competitions for some of her photos) and gardening. She is survived by her daughter Kristen (Aaron Montan), granddaughter Hailey and her four sisters, Connie, Barbara (Bob), Julie and Ginny and her niece and nephews. A service is planned for June 4th at 5 p.m. at All Souls Episcopal Church in Point Loma. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite charity.
Arrangements under the direction of Beardsley-Mitchell Funeral Home, San Diego, CA.
