Eileen E Shillito

San Diego A resident of San Diego, CA since 1973, Eileen Shillito was born in Dayton, Ohio, on July 2, 1922 and was the daughter of George and Elizabeth Cottman. She was educated in Daytona graduate of Julienne High School. Married in 1942 to Barry Shillito. Her husband left shortly thereafter for WWII. She was a worldwide traveler with residences in Dayton, Ohio, Washington DC and San Diego, CA. Eileen's most important interest was her 5 children and 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She supported all causes that were in our national well-being and was very patriotic. For example, in 1971, Eileen Shillito christened the USS Mount Vernon, (LSD) in Boston Harbor. She was made an honorary citizen of Quincy, Mass. She remained active in the Society of Sponsors and the Noon League. When she moved to San Diego in 1973 she served as the President of the Society of sponsors. Eileen was survived by her five children and their respective spouses; Barry L Shillito and Jackie; Elaine A Tanavage and Lee; Daniel G Shillito and Maryanne; James K Shillito and Miguel; Colleen Morse and Kevin. There are/were 11 grandchildren. They are (and their respective spouses); Barry W. Shillito and Andrea; Bryan Shillito and Brandee; Cari Fields and Jon; Stacey Rappaport and Andrew; David Lee Tanavage (Deceased); Daniel J Shillito and Sara; Kevin Shillito and Christie; Patrick Shillito and Tara;

Beth Shillito Garretson and Josh; Lauren Morse Suarez and Kyle; Will Morse. Their 11 great grandchildren include Madison and Cate Shillito; Emma and Ella Shillito; Jack and Joseph Fields; Olivia, Ayla and David Rappaport; Evelyn Shillito; Fiona Garretson. Donations are suggested to the Shillito Family Scholarship Fund of which Mrs. Shillito was its founder. It is managed by the Dayton Foundation, 2100 Kettering Tower, Dayton, Ohio 45423-1395.Services will be at St. Agnes in Point Loma on October 26, 2017, at 10:00 AM Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio on November 11, 2017.
