Mr. Eddie Paul Newman Sr. was born to Alice Newman on February 9th, 1923, in Birmingham, Alabama. He received his primary education at the Baldwin County Training School in Daphne, Alabama. He attended the Little Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Scott. He accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. As an adult, when he and his family moved to San Diego, California they all became members of the Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. S.M. Lockridge.
Mr. Newman saw his grandfather Austin Newman affectionately known as Papa as one of his key role models. His mother, Alice Newman taught him to serve the Lord, how to maintain a household, how to cook, be resourceful, and to become self sufficient. He grew up with many of his cousins who were also instrumental in helping him to develop life skills. Mr. Newman and his cousins enjoyed each others' company and they love each other as siblings.
As a child, he relished fishing, discovering the wonders of peanuts, and telling jokes. As an adult Mr. Newman enjoyed remodeling rooms in his homes, working on automobiles, gardening, and telling jokes. He was honored to serve as the District Usher President and to serve as an usher at Calvary Baptist Church.
Mr. Newman served in the Army Air-force from 1943 to 1946. He worked at Convair later known as General Dynamic for approximately 40 years, then he worked delivering automobiles for 10 years.
In 1977 Mr. Eddie Paul Newman and Ms. Leola Carter were united in marriage. They enjoyed traveling to visit family and going to church.
Due to health reason, Mrs. Leola became more than a loving wife, she also took on the role of a loving care giver for Mr. Newman.
Mr. Newman is survived by his wife Mrs. Leola Newman. Sons: Eddie Newman Jr.(Yvonne), Willie D. Falls, and Willie Carter (Hilde). Daughters: Linda Collins and Alice Marlene Broner. One daughter Faye P. Phillips pasted on before him. Grandchildren: Anthony, Patrick, Frederick, DeAndre, Maurice, Sherri, Dana, Michelle, Marcel, Kacy, Melissa, Devin, Aaron, and Dottie, in addition to 22 great-grand children.
