ENCINITAS- David De La Torre, passed away November 20th, 2016 after battling prostate cancer for nearly 9 years. David was the son of the late Edward and Eva De La Torre who settled in the Encinitas area in the early 1950's. David was an Ironworker by trade and later invested in real estate allowing him to retire early. Although retired from Iron Working, he continued to manage his investment properties up until the month of his passing, he was a dedicated hard worker. David was full of energy, knew how to enjoy life, and he was always the life of the party. David enjoyed gardening and took a tremendous amount of pride in his garden, he definitely had a green thumb. David always had a passion for cars… especially Corvette’s and Hot Rods. His favorite was his 1934 Ford Coupe that he had in his early years before selling it when drafted into the Military in the early 60’s. David was stationed in Germany when serving his country and quickly became acquainted with the locals and actually learned to speak German while there. David certainly had an adaptive personality to say the least. His sense of humor and devotion to his friends were always at the forefront of his character… He will be missed by many. David is survived by his Son David H. De La Torre also of Encinitas and his four grandchildren: Jasmine, Laynee, Jake and Dylan. David is also survived by Siblings Lupe Bishop (De La Torre) of Oceanside and Eva and Larry Kinsella of Temecula.
