Most of all, I admire Carol for her tenacity, courage and love of life. She did not easily give in to the limitations of her conditions.  There were no expressions of self-pity, no whinings, no why me’s?  She took life on courageously and as normally as possible.
I have witnessed how she overcame a life-threatening episode, coming out of it like a champion. For years after that, she has carried on to her fullest capacity, clinging dearly to life until she got progressively weak, weaker and couldn’t  grip anymore. It is no wonder that Willie endearingly calls her “Sikat” (Tough, Proud, In-charge).

Thank you Carol, for the positive vibes: Your love of family (the grandchildren anecdotes are precious),  your pride as an accomplished E.R. Nurse,  the generosity and hospitality you showered us with,  your love of yard work  resulting in the bounty of various flowers (love the orchids!) that surround your house, the way you loved beautiful objects and placed each one in your home with care, the genuine way you received us- every visit was special.

I thank God for having had Carol in my life. I will remember for long the hugs we shared at my last visit in late January and then the weak but hearty laughter at our last phone conversation while she laid in her Hospice bed.

I will miss you, my dear friend.

May you Rest In Peace in the bosom of Jesus.



I am so happy that the last time Carolyn and I talked was on Valentine's day, the day to express your love for someone you care about. We told each other we loved each other. I could feel her smile. I told her we were in Florida and couldn't leave until the end of the month so hang in there and l will be there. She said she'd wait and would be looking forward to seeing me again. I told her I love her my "Sis" and asked to talk to Willie. Willie then told me that Carolyn was beginning hospice care. I told my husband that we had to try to cut our time here short so we could go to be with Carolyn. Unfortunately we were not able to leave soon enough. I will miss her, forever have her in my heart and soul,  glad I had the time we shared and fortunate to have have had the chance to finally call her "my sis"
