To Rich, Peter, and Mary Jo,

Paul and I have lost one of our oldest and dearest friends with the death of your dear mother. The memories we have of the times we spent together in Lake Geneva, Milwaukee, Oak Park and Notre Dame would fill theses pages.   Paul was Carol’s friend before I even met her.  I believe they may have even dated a bit. Carol dated the majority of Paul’s friends so  we shared some amazingly fun experiences. 
We missed her when she moved to California but I would  see her when she came to Riverside to visit Mary Jo and family..
We were actually visited by your mom  on her first “date” with your dad.
We were briefly renting in Oak Park and she showed up at our door,
She was a frequent visitor at my home in Lake Geneva and I reciprocated by  infringing on the hospitality of your grandparents.
We all know of the many wonderful things about your mother.
That is why she will be missed by all who knew and loved  her.
Our prayers and sympathy to you and your families.

I feel such a great loss at the death of my friend Carol Reilly. 
She was one of my first friends when I moved here from Chicago, Illinois. We shared a lot of fond memories. I will miss her always. She was a dear, sweet, lovely, brave person.

Carol was a dear friend from High School days forward. 

 She was always   loyal, loving,  generous with her time and  inspiring.

I will miss her unti the day we meet again.

Carol and I have been friends since we were 14 and freshman in
high school. Our friendship has continued for  71 years through
many moves, children etc. Carol was  a loyal ,trusted friend who
always saw the bright side-and cared deeply about her old girl
friends from Trinity,Oak Park  and LAKE GENEVA--many great 
times were spent together at the lake and as I moved around the country Carol would always visit me--I have lost a very special
friend but hope to be with her again someday in HEAVEN.  Mary Jo

Mary Jo, Chris, Fitz, Jack, and Charlie,

Lucie and I are so saddened to learn of the death of your Mother, Mother-in-law, and Grandmother.  We are grateful for both her long life and, now, the end of her suffering.  

As you now know, however much this hour may have been anticipated, it does little to numb the sting of losing someone so dearly loved, so deeply treasured, and who lived so beautiful a life.   

From our own experiences, Lucie and I know the natural but impossible desire to somehow be able to turn back the hands of time to yesterday, when there was youth, and health, and happiness.  It is an understandable impulse as we yearn for some way by which those who we love best might live on with us for the rest of our days.  In a very real way, we believe, they do.  

Each of us is an amalgam of those we love most dearly.  We naturally seek to emulate those traits and characteristics we admire most in those to whom we're closest.   Those threads, those fibers of their qualities that we seek to inculcate in ourselves remain with us for the rest of our lives. 

Just as importantly, they become a part of what's best in us, that is admired most, and that is in turn emulated by those who love us.  And it continues through the generations.  

It is in this way, we believe, that those we love so dearly not only live on with us, but will continue to touch and shape the lives of others long after our own time here is through.

May each of you find peace and acceptance through your friends, your family, and your God.
