Barbara was born to: Jesse David Crawford (Father) & Mary Grace Sanders (Mother), her father, mother & stepmother: Nyna M. Crawford all preceded her in death. Barbara was the oldest sibling of (3), sisters: Linda Crawford, Nita Crawford of Seattle, WA, and Kathy Crawford (preceded her in death). (5) brothers: Junior Crawford and Marty Crawford (preceded her in death), Michael Crawford, Larry Crawford of Seattle, WA, and Timothy Myles of Fresno, California. Barbara was born in Bakersfield, California, she graduated from Lincoln high school located in Riverside, California; where she began her Track & Field career, she continued to compete while attending Riverside State College.
In 1970, she married her husband, James Edward George. While attending Riverside State College Barbara became pregnant and gave birth to her son Robert D. Allen. Barbara and James went on to spend 44 lovely years together before James' passing in 2014. During the upbringing of Robert, she took up bowling for enjoyment, yet her passion was sewing and caring for others. Barbara was employed at Jack Murphy Stadium where she became a supervisor before their closure. Barbara then became a foster parent with the County of San Diego Health and Human Services agency, after taking on the care of multiple children from the system, she adopted (2) of her foster children: Mark Dumas and Tanisha Matthew of San Diego, California. Barbara has (4) grandchildren: Naisha Allen, Denee Allen, and Matthew Polk (Robert D. Allen), Lovinity Smith (Tanisha Matthew). (2) great-grandsons: Amari Allen (Naisha Allen), and Xavier Olden (Denee Allen). Along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members.
A visitation for Barbara will be held Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel San Diego, 3960 Imperial Ave, San Diego, CA 92113. A funeral service will occur Friday, October 22, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, 3960 Imperial Ave, San Diego, CA 92113. A graveside service will occur Friday, October 22, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cypress View Mausoleum, 3953 Imperial Ave, at S 40th St, San Diego, CA 92113.
