Auring was the daughter of Pampilo and Benita Tolentino. She was the fourth oldest of ten siblings. After graduating from C.E.U Baclaran High School in 1956, she spent the next few years working as a telephone operator for a local hospital while entering a number of beauty pageants and singing contests. She married Jose "Joe" Diaz in January of 1966, her husband for the past 55+ years. After giving birth to their first child, Joel, in Baclaran, she followed Joe to the United States from station to station as a U.S. Navy wife. During this time, she raised her son and daughter, Eileen, born in Newport, Rhode Island, while working part-time.
The family finally settled in San Diego, California, in 1978, where Joe retired from the Navy and began working in various security jobs. Auring gave birth to her third child, Jocelyn in 1980. She continued to work as a medical equipment assembler until she retired. Once retired, she spent her time doting on her nine grandchildren, playing bingo with Joe and her friends, and staying active in church.
Auring is survived by her husband Joe, her three children Joel, Eileen and Jocelyn, and nine grandchildren (with one more on the way).
