Aram is survived by his wife Peggy; his son Anthony and daughter Seranie; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Hampartzoom and Victoria and his brother John of Fresno.
Aram was born on October 31, 1932 in Sacramento, California to Hampartzoom and Victoria Manoogian. He served two years in the Navy before going on to graduate from Freson State with a degree in Business Administration. He and Peggy married on August 22, 1959 at Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church. They moved to San Diego in 1965 to see what opportunities lied outside of Fresno. After 11 years in town, Aram decided he wanted to become a small business owner so he and Peggy opened an educational toy supply company aptly named Get Smart before he went on to run and then retire after 25 years from the duplicating department at Sweetwater Union High School District. After 12 years as just the two of them, Aram and Peggy welcomed Anthony and then six years later Seranie to complete their family. His children remember him as a loving and funny dad who instilled his incredible work ethic in them, encouraged them to pursue their education, strive to be good citizens and always say yes to a treat.
Aram was accomplished at tennis and often took his kids out to play on the courts at Pacific Beach Middle School. He was a dedicated and witty individual who loved to ride his bike and would regularly put it in the back of his pickup truck to take it for a ride at Mission Bay Park.
A funeral is scheduled for 12pm on Monday, September 10, 2022 at St. John Garabed with a lunch to follow at Aram’s favorite family restaurant Filiipis. In lieu of flowers please send donations to St. John Garabed at 13860 El Camino Real, San Diego, CA 92130. Condolences can be sent to.
The family would like to thank the staff at Torrey Pines Senior Living for their efforts, care and dedication to our dad’s health and well being during his stays with you.
