Anne Elizabeth Olson

Anne Elizabeth Olson, age 91, of Escondido, California passed away at Redwood Terrace Health Center on December 1, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rear Admiral William and Yvonne Thornton, and her husband Robert Dale Olson, the love of her life for 69 years. First and foremost Anne was a mother and homemaker. She is survived by her six children: Robert Botne, William (& Kathryn) Olson, Georgianne (& Ben) Geller, James (& Jolene) Olson, Clifford (& Roxanne) Olson, and Richard (& Lisa) Olson, 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Anne was born in Annapolis, MD, June 2, 1929. She travelled and moved often during her childhood due to her father’s naval service, first moving to San Diego (Point Loma) in 1932, again in 1936, and finally during World War 2. She graduated from Hoover High School in 1947. On December 28, 1948 she married Robert Olson of Dunbar, Iowa, a navy pilot stationed in San Diego.

Robert and Anne lived in Chula Vista, where they raised their children and where Anne worked in food services at Greg Rogers Elementary school for many years until her retirement at 65. They moved to El Cajon in 1984 and 30 years later moved into assisted living at Redwood Terrace in Escondido.

A graveside service will be held at El Camino Memorial Park (Vista of Liberty section) on Thursday, December 10th at 11 a.m.
