Rev. Msgr. Andrew William Hanley, was born February 1, 1914 in Ballaghaderreen, Roscommon County, Ireland. He graduated from St. John's Seminary June 1940 , Waterford , Ireland, and was ordinained June 16, 1940 at St. John's, Waterford, Ireland, saying his First Mass June 17, 1940 at St. Nathy's Cathedral, Ballaghaderreen, Ireland. From 1942-1943 he was Associate Pastor at Sacred Heart, Coronado, and continued to serve several parishes as Pastor in San Diego, Ramona, San Bernardino, and Needles, CA. In San Diego, Msgr. served from 1964-1970 at St. Agnes, in Point Loma, and at St. John the Evangelist from 1970 to 1988. While in San Diego, Rev. Msgr Hanley loved to walk the paths in Shelter Island during his time off.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, November 16, 10:00 a.m. at Nazareth House where he lived for 8 years. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
