I first met Richard when we were both in the 7th grade at Greenfield Junior High School in El Cajon, CA.  Being a scrawny little nerd, I knew I didn't stand a chance, but he was always nice to me.  Our Moms were friends.  Moving on to high school, I was still scrawny, but Richard was good looking and athletic.  I was focused on concert orchestra as I was and still am a violinist.  We never had classes together as I was very much a nerd.  It wasn't until we began to celebrate our high school reunions, that we carried on real conversations and became friends.  I was disappointed this past October 12, when I was so looking forward to seeing him at our 55th reunion, but at the last minute he cancelled!  We messaged back and forth later and he explained that he was helping with some event at the VFW!  I was shocked to hear that he had journeyed out into the Cosmos.  Please take good care of each other and revel in the memories of Richard.  He was a great guy!

My uncle Richard was a good and gentle man who I greatly respected. I remember as a child getting to see his Eagle Scout ceremony. That is how I have always thought of him—as a loyal Eagle Scout.
