Richard Owen Bristow Was born July 3, 1926 in Loma Linda Hospital and died September 22 in Fontana, CA at the age of 85. Except for brief periods, he was a lifetime resident of San Bernardino. The week that World War II ended, he graduated from the U.S.M.S. Radio Officers' Training School at Hoffman Island N.Y. Although he loved to hunt and fish with his sons in his younger years, his radio training enabled him to enjoy amateur radio until his death. His amateur radio call sign was WB61CJ and later, was W6DCK. He earned a Bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University and a Master's degree from the University of Redlands. His career in education began as a teacher at Calipatria H.S. in Imperial Valley. When Eisenhower H.S. opened he was hired as a teacher there and when San Gorgonio H.S. opened he went there as a vice principal. When Cajon H.S. opened he was appointed principal. After ten years at Cajon H.S. he was transferred to the Distric Office where he was an administrator for eight years until he retired in 1988. His survivors include his wife, Jacquelyn M. Raleigh Bristow and his three sons and a daughter. His sons and their wives are Kenneth H. and Diane Bristow, Michael and Margie Davis, and Thomas H. Bristow. His daughter and her husband are Nicole and David White. He also has two stepsons and two step daughters. They and their spouses are: Richard and Terri Ruggles, Paul and Angela Ruggles, Dava and Michael Jenson, and Cyndi and Scott Bangle. Survivors also include two sisters, Donna and her husband George Seaton, and Norma Cacka. He has 14 grandchildren and 7 great grand children.
