On August 10, 2022, at 10:15 p.m., our mother, Rachel Ybarra Acosta, 87, slipped away from this world into the arms of our Lord. She was born to Albert and Maria Ybarra on July 22, 1935, in Riverside, CA. She attended St Bonafice Indian School in Banning CA, and Academy of the Little Flower in Oceanside CA. Mom spent most of her adult life in San Bernardino, CA. where she raised her family. She worked at San Bernardino County Hospital as a nurse aide and translator. She is survived by her children Gloria Soto, Banning, CA; Ruby Davis, West Point, CA; Albert Dominguez, San Bernardino, CA; Patricia Laws, Hurricane, UT; Joe Acosta, San Bernardino, CA; and stepson Tommy Acosta, Rialto, CA. She also loved her sons-in-law, and would often call them her sons, Joe Soto, Bob Davis, and Frank Laws. She is also survived by her sister Cecilia Austin, Fontana, CA. She will also be missed by her beloved dog Chanclita, who was always be her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Connie, Sally, Hope; her brother Casey; and her son Gabriel Dominguez (who passed away June 27, 1982).
Mom had the best sense of humor and was always making us laugh. She loved dancing, listening to music, working puzzles, shopping (she was such a sharp dresser), but most of all she loved spending time with her children, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. We were truly blessed that God chose her to be our mom. We loved her in life, and she will be in our hearts until we meet again in heaven.
A viewing for Rachel will be held Friday, September 9, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with a rosary service to follow from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Mt. View Mortuary & Cemetery, 570 East Highland Ave, San Bernardino, CA 92404. The committal service will begin at 2:15 PM.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mtviewsanbernardino.com for the Acosta family.
