Phillip Genobebo Manzano age 93, of Yucaipa, CA, was taken to his eternal home with our Lord on Friday, July 22, 2022. Born in Perris, CA, he was raised in San Bernardino and was a resident of Yucaipa for the past 32 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Joaquin Osnaya Manzano and Maria Miranda Manzano; and four sisters, Cruz Manzano, Tomasa (Manzano) Ramirez, Erlinda Manzano, and Reynalda (Manzano) Montoya.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Maria Esperanza (Rivera) Manzano of Yucaipa, CA; sons Phillip John Manzano (Mary) of Lakeside, OR, Charles Francis Manzano of Bullhead City, AZ, Stephen Rene Manzano (Suzanne) of Carson City, NV, Robert Louis Manzano of Yucaipa, CA, David Lawrence Manzano (Margaret) of Banning, CA, Victor Gerard Manzano (Jeanette) of Minden, NV, Christopher Martin Manzano of Redlands, CA; and a daughter, Maria Elena Marscheider (Scott) of Perris, CA. He leaves nine grandchildren; Ivan, Jocelyn, Jessica, Edward, David, Amanda, Rebekah, Joe, and Brandalyn; nine great-grandchildren; Brooke, Emily, Adelyn, Liam, Jerika, Janessa, Journey, Lily and Gabriel, and two great great-grandchildren; Kekoa and Kawai. He is also survived by two brothers; Tom Manzano of San Diego, CA, and Richard Manzano of San Bernardino, CA, and one sister, Terry (Manzano) Navarrete of Rialto, CA. He was a man of faith, a loving father a devoted husband, a wonderful grandfather, great grandfather, great great-grandfather, and a loving brother to all of his siblings, always ready to offer a helping hand.
Phillip attended Alessandro Elementary School, graduated from San Bernardino High School, and attended San Bernardino Valley College briefly before joining the US Army in 1950. He served two years active duty, rising to the rank of Sargent assigned to the 742nd Armored Field Artillery Battalion stationed in Hawaii during the Korean War, and served four years in the reserves. Following his service in the Army, he worked as a cement mason until he retired in 1988. He was a proud member of Cement Masons Union Local 500 for 60 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, vacations to the beaches in Mexico, an occasional cruise to the Panama Canal or the Bahamas, and was an avid Dodger fan. He was always happy to spend time with his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was our beloved hero and will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
The viewing will take place at Mt. View Mortuary Chapel on Tuesday, August 16 from 4 PM to 8 PM. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church on Wednesday, August 17 at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in San Bernardino.
