Nathaniel was a happy-go-lucky guy with a big smile and a quirky sense of humor. He enjoyed life, fast cars, dancing, and science fiction; especially Star Trek.
In the ninth grade, Nate got a job as a box boy at the Palace Market, located on Waterman Avenue and Mill Street, in the city of San Bernardino. He was a dedicated and conscientious worker who worked his way up through the ranks to become manager of the warehouse.
During this time he married his girlfriend, Dora McDuffy (deceased). To this union, he was blessed with 2 children, Nathaniel Dawson Jr. and Shonda Dawson.
When the economy started to waiver and talk of closing Palace Market became a reality, Nate relocated to the Los Angeles area, where he worked for another 20 plus years for Alpha Beta Grocery Stores.
While in Los Angeles he was reconnected to Marla Hoel, a friend from high school. They were married and to this union he was blessed with another daughter, Antonia Louise Dawson.
After Nate’s retirement from the grocery Union, he followed a lifelong dream of working in the motion picture industry for Stu Seagull Productions in San Diego, California, where he was the Stunt Car Coordinator for the company.
While living in Bakersfield, Nate met Deborah Renee Munson Armstrong, and they had a son, Bryon Issac Dawson, who proceeded his father in death.
Nathaniel is survived by his three children, Nathaniel Dawson Jr., Antonia Louise Aikins, and Shonda Dawson. He is also survived by his four grandchildren; Aaliyah Nicole Dawson, Enjolee Sade Dawson, Ryan David Aikins, and Sean Michael Aikins. One Aunt, Edna Hughes, four sisters, 2 brothers, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends
