While his father was in the U.S. Air Force, the family lived in several stateside cities and in Okinawa, Japan. In 1968, his father was stationed at Norton Air Force Base, San Bernardino, California where the family moved and settled down calling Southern California home.
Michael, while still in high school, began building and selling audio speakers and after graduating from San Gorgonio High School in 1973 he began building, selling, and repairing computers. Although Michael was skillful in carpentry, construction, home repair, computers, and audio engineering, he later chose a marketing and sales career, where he consistently excelled and went from sales to financing. He went on to obtain his vehicle dealer’s permit and started purchasing and selling used cars from the auction. He then started his own business in building and selling custom-made computers & repairs and later in credit repair.
Michael was a loving, protective, and caring son to his mother; he loved and always wanted the best for his children and grandchildren. Before his health began failing, Michael loved life, was full of personality, witty, and loved philosophical conversations. He also enjoyed sports, scuba diving, and traveling.
He leaves to celebrate his life: his sisters, Joann (Mitch) John and LaShaun McNeely; his children: Kimberly (Kim) McNeely-Powell; Tiana McNeely-Hernandez, and Christopher (Chris) McNeely; his grandchildren: Elijah McNeely, Jahlil McNeely, Jekai McNeely, Emari McNeely, Noemi Hernandez, Naya Hernandez, and Christopher McNeely Jr.; great-grands: Jordin Jackson, and Jade McNeely; nephews, Yazid (Yaz) Carothers, and Tyson McNeely and a host of relatives and friends.
A memorial service for Michael will be held Friday, December 16, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Mt. View Mortuary & Cemetery, 570 East Highland Ave, San Bernardino, CA 92404.
