Juanita was the youngest of ten children born to William Thomas and Sarah Ellen Rachels of Little Rock, Arkansas. She married her husband of 54 years, (John Joseph Patterson), in September of 1951, while living in Modesto, California. They moved to Brawley, California, where they lived for 12 years. Subsequently, she lived in Orange County, California: Clackamas County, Oregon; Riverside County, California; and then spent her last years in San Bernardino County, California.
Juanita spent a large portion of her life as a homemaker and raising her nine children. She was a devoted Christian, was active in her church, and volunteered in many activities. Juanita loved cooking delicious meals for her family and friends. She was an accomplished seamstress and delighted in a good book. Once in a while, she might even be heard yodeling. She especially enjoyed watching crime drama tv shows like Murder She Wrote, Columbo, Matlock, Diagnosis Murder and Ironside, or game shows such as The Price is Right, Family Feud and Let’s Make A Deal. But more than anything, in her late years, she loved playing video games and visiting with her family.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
