I will miss you.  I was very fortunate to have some great memories of my fragmented youth.  I remember the family gatherings on Easter, I remember eating at the table under the patio in the back yard. I remember the cool, calm, and collected man Who enjoyed his plants and his chilis.  I remember learning a form of discipline that resonated throughout the years.  Chew with you mouth closed, elbows off the table, and eat what you have.  I remember waking up in food because I was stubborn.  My grandpa was a hard working man from what I consider a unique era and the greatest generation.  He was a shoe maker, I remember the distinctive smells of the shop when my grandma would take us to his job site.  He was a man that worked with his hands and took pride in his work. He was a veteran who did things with attention to detail and discipline.  I was very fortunate to have lived with my grandparents and didn’t realize how lucky I was and the life lessons being provided to me daily.  My grandpa loved his family and he loved my grandma.  He demonstrated a strong example of how a husband should be.  I smile as I look back and he showed how he got the last word in communication with grandma, it was “yes dear”.  When grandmas feet hurt from her busy day, he would prepare a hot tub of water for her to soak her feet.   The examples were many and powerful.  I only saw love in is house, and for years after I left in the military, if I was not deployed, I would look forward to my birthday as I would be blessed by a phone call from both my grandparents, and they would sing “happy Birthday” over the phone, this was the strongest display of love to me, and one of the greatest moments of my life.  In 2022, I missed the call from him and my aunt Bridget, it was recorded on voicemail and it serves as a reminder of strength in family, and unconditional love.  Thank you for the life lessons, and setting the example of a positive male role model, I love you.

1970-71, when you send me a Food Package, again you made me the
 Happiest G.I. in time of need...and the fun time I had when I stayed overnight in 1950's ---Eddie boy and I were playing instead of sleeping--you came in and scolded us for making noise. That you
didn't want to hear-not a PEEP...Well... Eddie boy made that PEEP 
sound...you stroked in...Thank you Tio.

I remember growing up at all the Family functions my Tio Edward and Tia Natie  always being the first ones to arrive.  They Loved being around Family and they always made the time to attend a function where they could laugh, eat, Love and hang with Family. He was always happy and with a smile every time I saw him. He will be missed, but knowing he is now with his beloved wife and siblings (including my Mom Jennie) gives me comfort because I know he is still surrounded by Loved ones. Rest in paradise Tio.

I would like to send my condolences to the Cardenas family.  Tio you will be greatly missed ❤️ I'll always remember you used to get mad when we would eat your fruit from your trees. But now I have a Fig tree that you gave me. Every year when I pick my figs I will always think of you.  I love you Tio Edward. ❤️ until we meet again. 😇🙏🏽
