Donald C. Sanders was born September 20, 1960 in Mt. Pleasant, TX to Monique C. and Lucille Sanders. At the age of 3, he moved with his family to California where he attended school and was a graduate of Eisenhower High School.
Donald married the love of his life Tsara Attical, August 29, 1998. One child was born to them (Dominic C. Sanders). He leaves behind one stepson, Tehrance C. Harris (Porsha); Father, Monique C. Sanders Jr; Aunt Maggie Traylor (Joe); Brothers, Keith Sanders, Victor Sanders (Regina); Sister Charity Howard. Brother in law, Robert Attical; Katie Lawrence; Aunts, LueBertha Phillips, Brenda Anin (Anthony); Uncle, James Moody. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his mother Lucille Sanders.
Donald was a friend to many and never met a stranger. He always had a kind word of encouragement to everyone he met. Donald held many jobs over his lifetime, having worked for Church’s Chicken for many years; he was known as the “Chicken Man”. He worked in the food industry as a machine operator where he made vinegar, sodas and fruit juices. The job that gave Donald that the greatest personal satisfaction of his life was being a Security Officer for The California School for the Deaf. The impact that was made on him was the happiest he’s ever been. He took his job serious to protect the staff, students and grounds.
He had a special relationship with many of the staff members, but the children stole his heart. He was a gentle giant amongst the kids. They loved him so much because of his caring personality with them. He would fist bump them and they loved it. He’s known as the music man, because he always had music playing as he patrolled the grounds. He was a lover of all kinds of music and it really touched the staff. He was also a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church Male Chorus where he attended for many years.
Donald was the most helpful person you could meet and there’s nothing he wouldn’t do to help everyone. During our many basketball tournaments, no matter what was needed he was your guy. I will miss his funny laugh, our crazy conversations that ended in great laughter, my partner in my crazy schemes and for the things that he did for Dominic and I. He will always be in our hearts!
The Sanders family appreciates all the prayers and support received. A very special thanks to Pastor Sterling Evans, Chanel Howard-Sykes, Brenda Anin, LueBertha Phillips, my sons and the CSDR family.
