Domingo Sprague Lopez was born in Loving, New Mexico to Edith Sprague on January 27, 1935. Mingo was called home to be with the Lord on January 9, 2023, with his family by his side. He was raised by Edith and Braulio Fierro in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He then moved to San Bernardino, California as a teenager and began his career at Santa Fe Railroad where he was employed for 44 years. Mingo married his first wife where they had 3 children, Braulio (Brad), Corinne (Corina), and Susanna (Susie). In 1977, he married his current wife, Frances (Quica) M. Lopez where they raised Manolo and Patricia (Paty) together. Later, they then welcomed Victoria.
Mingo was a hard worker and loved to stay busy. He had numerous side jobs, from picking oranges to working as a security officer for most of his life. Some would call him “A Jack of All Trades.” He could do it all, build treehouses, tetherball courts, and home improvement projects, just to name a few. Mingo was a Dodgers fan through and through, he bled blue! When he wasn’t watching the Dodgers he would attend Little League baseball games and his grandchildren’s sporting events. Mingo’s family would describe him as easy going, strong, reliable, loving, and giving. He enjoyed being a grandpa to his grandchildren, Marcella, Tina, Marilyn, Eric, Celia, Dominic Jr., Marcos, Melissa, Adrian, Marlin, Gabriel, Reuben, Matthew, Jessica, and Nicolas.
Mingo is preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, and son Manolo. He is survived by his wife, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 5 children, 2 son in-laws, a daughter in-law, 15 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
A visitation for Domingo will be held Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a Funeral Service from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Mt. View Mortuary & Cemetery, 570 East Highland Ave, San Bernardino, CA 92404.
