Parents Eddie Lee and Freddie Lee Eddings welcomed their second child, Alma LaVerne Eddings on Feb. 3, 1937, (on her mother's birthday) in Oakwood, Texas. Alma attended school in Texas for a very short period, before her parents relocated to Fresno, CA.
She attended Catholic school in Fresno, CA before moving to Bakersfield, CA where she met Curtis Willis.
In 1950, her mother and siblings moved to San Bernardino, CA, where Curtis and his family also lived and their friendship continued.
She attended Sturges Jr. High School and graduated from Pacific High School in San Bernardino, CA.
Alma was baptized and attended Church of Christ. She was devoted to her Church, children and family. Alma worked at Community Hospital as a Nurse's Aide until she retired in 2001. She loved to travel to various places where her family lived.
Those that knew Alma also knew Curtis, they were inseparable. Always together. In 1956, Curtis bought a brand new car, a 1956 pink and white Buick with the words, "El Gato" (the cat), written on the side and with Christmas lights around each wheel. They were the coolest couple in and everybody knew them.
Alma was an immaculate woman. She was known for her style of dress and that her hair was always in place. The décor of her home could have been on the cover of a magazine. She was a phenomenal woman.
Alma and Curtis met in the 3rd grade and were married for 63 years. They have 3 children, Rhonda, Lisa and Curtis Jr.
She leaves to mourn her passing her devoted husband, Curtis Willis; three children: Rhonda Willis-Dean of Riverside, CA, Lisa Willis of Carson, CA, and Curtis Willis Jr. of Stockton, CA; Brother William Eddings (Odessa), Oakland, CA; Eunice Webb (Tyler), Stockton, CA.
Grandchildren: Cedric Dean, San Bernardino, CA; Gabrielle Robinson, San Diego, CA; Dashawn Willis, Gary, Indiana and Kobe Willis, Texas and three Great-Grandchildren. A host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceded in her death, her parents and sister Shirley Murdock, Brother-in-Law Casper Willis.
Appreciation:
On behalf of the family, we wish to express our gratitude for your kindness as evidenced in your prayers, thoughts and deeds and your attendance at this service. May the promises in the scriptures be the hope today, our peace tomorrow and comfort always.
God,
Grant me the Serenity to accept those
Things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can
and the Wisdom to know the difference.

Alma LaVerne Willis' New Address:
I just wanted to let everyone know that I've moved.
I was called, and then received by my Father.
To my precious loved ones:
I planned to be here a lot longer,
but God informed me that my new home was ready,
and I could move immediately.
Now that my new home is finally finished,
It is a beautiful sight to see.
It is located in an exclusive area,
Just off the serene celestial shore,
and sits behind a set of Pearly Gates.
The streets are paved with gold
And everyday is Sabbath.
There is sweet serenity everywhere.
There is so much peace, love
joy and happiness here.
There is no more pain to bear.
No struggles, strife, or discontentment.
Now we all know that I can go on
and on about my new home,
but I have to get fitted for my Wings.
Now let me give you my new address:
Alma LaVerne Willis
#1 Hallelujah Way
God's Kingdom
P.S. I don't have a phone number yet,
but just call on God and ask for me.
If you don't have his number,
He is listed in the Holy Bible on every page
