Rita is survived by her husband, Antonio Hernandez; her sons, Antonio Hernandez, Jr, Robert Rey Hernandez, and Eric Hernandez (Mida Alejandra); grandchildren, Robert Rey Hernandez, Jr., Jenisse Nicole Hernandez, Amber Nicole Romero, Natalie Marie Hernandez, Elexsia Hernandez, Tony Isaiah Hernandez, Jessall Renae Hernandez, Candelaria Rehnea Hernandez, Elijah Miguel Hernandez, Deseazmin Fey Hernandez, Miranda Isabella Hernandez, and Juliette Melanie Hernandez; great grandchildren, Gabriel Alejandro Garza, Liam Alessandro Garza, Monique Shy Hernandez, Robert Rey Hernandez III, Allison Mae Hernandez, Antonio Lucio Hernandez, Daniel Vargas, Lucio Azul Vargas, Vida Mia Vargas and Zya Sereniie Ledesma; and her siblings, Ruthaford Douglas Short, David Short, Evanna Claudio ( Bonnie), and Maria Isabel Alvarado.
Rita is preceded in death by her mother, Olga Maria Garcia and her sister Patricia Ann Reeves.
A Visitation for Rita will be held Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Mont Meta & Memorial Park, 26170 State Highway 345, San Benito, Texas 78586. with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St Benedict Catholic Church, San Benito, Texas. Burial to follow immediately after mass at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
