Raul V. Martinez

Raul V. Martinez entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at the age of 86. Raul was born on June 11, 1936 to Ernesto Martinez and Maria Villanueva Martinez in San Benito, Texas. He attended San Benito schools and later served in the United States Army. Upon his return to San Benito, he married his sweetheart, Minerva Gonzales. They were married for 47 years. He discovered his passion for building at a young age, while working with his father and his brothers. He had a prosperous construction business for many years and like his siblings, developed a reputation for quality homes. He helped numerous families around the Valley realize their dreams of home ownership as well as his own children. In his later years, he enjoyed creating things for his grandchildren that they could enjoy. After his retirement, he continued with smaller remodeling jobs and was even working on the restoration of his son’s 100-year-old, historic home in Dallas. He also worked his schedule around NFL games and daily Wheel of Fortune.

Left to cherish his memory are his children Ernesto Martinez, Graciela Ramirez (+Rodolfo), and Gloria Rodriguez (Jaime), as well as his grandchildren, Aaron and Anissa Rodriguez, and Daniel Ramirez. Raul is also survived by his sister Rosa Martinez.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernesto and Maria Martinez, his wife, Minerva G. Martinez, and his siblings, Dolores Lucio, Guadalupe Reyes, Tomasa Rocha, Miguel Martinez, Ascension “Chon” Martinez, and Ernesto Martinez, Jr.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Funeraria Del Angel Mont Meta Memorial Park, 26170 TX HWY-345 San Benito, Texas 78586 from 12:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Chapel service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. Burial to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
