Mario Cano Rodriguez

The Rodriguez family is heartbroken to announce the death of Mario Cano Rodriguez, age 72, of Rio Hondo, Texas passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022 surrounded by friends and family. Mario was born July 11, 1950 to Micaela Rodriguez and Canuto Rodríguez in Matamoros Tamaulipas, Mexico.

Mario enjoyed gardening, watching boxing and having long conversations on the phone with his siblings (sometimes a little too much). His two favorite places to visit were the beach and Vicky's Restaurant.

Mario is survived by his sons Mario Alberto Rodriguez and Raul Rodriguez; and his step-daughter Ana Cristina Garibaldi; his siblings Sylvia Peña (Roberto), Rosalinda Rodriguez (Natalio), Emmanuel Rodriguez (Teresa), Andres Rodriguez (Elvira), Lino Rodriguez (Alicia), Jose Rodriguez (Letty), Cirilio Rodriguez and Alfredo Rodriguez (Nallely).

Mario was preceded in death by his father Canuto Rodriguez and his mother Micaela Rodriguez; his step-daughter Mabell "Chata" Garibaldi; his brothers Pedro Rodriguez and Enrique Cano Rodriguez; his sister Juana Gonzalez; and his sister-in-law Guadalupe Rodriguez.

A visitation for Mario will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Mont Meta, 26170 State Highway 345, San Benito, Texas 78586. A chapel funeral service will occur Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 10:00 AM, followed by interment at Mont Meta Memorial Park, 26170 State Highway 345, San Benito, Texas 78586.

Serving as pallbearers are Javier Rodriguez, Roberto Peña, Jesus Gonzalez, Manuel Rodriguez, Daniel Moreno and Gilberto Nuñez.
