Maria D Cantu

Maria was a devout Jehovah’s Witness for 36 years. She prayed until the very end asking God to take care of all her children even though they are all adults. Her children were very important to her and she was the best mother anyone could have. She loved all her grandchildren and they felt that love from her with each hug and kiss they received.

She had so much faith in Jehovah and she would converse with him; to her, it was as though she could see him. He was real to her and that is what we will always admire.

Maria loved to collect dolls and a variety of flowers.

We love you mi ama and we will greatly miss you until we see you again in paradise.

Maria is survived by her children Ramiro Cantu (Araceli); Ruben Cantu (Olga); Aurelia Canchola (Maurilio); Lydia Cantu (Reynaldo); Anita Barrera; Angelita Tamayo (Joel); Rolando Cantu (Maria); Rogerio Cantu; Alicia Cantu; Ricardo Cantu (Mary); Rene Cantu; Rudy Cantu (Ofie); Raymond Cantu; Rai Cantu (Alma); Rafael Cantu; and Sandra Reyes.

Maria was preceded in death by her husband Roberto Cantu; her daughter Lydia Cantu and her son Roberto Cantu Jr.; her father Jesus Ortiz and her mother Petra Rivera; her brothers David Alvarez and Pedro Ortiz; her sisters Angelina de Guerrero and Sofia de Balderas; her nephew Carlos Cantu, and her granddaughter Lorissa Cantu Gonzalez.

Maria D. Cantu also leaves behind 65 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren, and 25 great-great grandchildren along with her beloved cat Robin.

A visitation for Maria will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Mont Meta, 26170 State Highway 345, San Benito, Texas 78586. A funeral will occur Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM immediately followed with interment at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
