Wilma Jeanette Terry Stone was born April 11, 1921, in the West Texas town of Snyder. She was raised in the Church of Christ and remained a member for all of her life. During World War II, while the men were fighting, Wilma earned a Bachelor's Degree from then Abilene Christian College and became a teacher. For a time, she lived in Manhattan and was a stewardess for American Airlines. While training for the airlines, she met another stewardess, Sara Stone, and they became lifelong friends. When she returned to Texas and resumed her true vocation as a teacher, she met Sara's brother, Lee Dan Stone, a Navy pilot, and they became engaged and were married on December 20, 1947. Lee and Wilma were married for 65 years and 7 months. Together, they had three sons, Terry Lee Stone, Jerry Robert Stone, and John Gregory Stone. Terry and his wife Lennis gave them their first grandchild, Jason Chad Stone. Jerry and his wife Joy gave them their second grandchild, Madison Stone. Jason and his wife Robin gave them two great grandchildren, Samuel (Sam) and Charles (Charlie). Wilma passed away at the age of 92 on June 8, 2013. She was surrounded by her loved ones who will miss her forever. This is a loving tribute to the best wife and life-partner and the best mother a husband and three little boys could ever have. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Mac Arthur Park Church of Christ. Family will receive friends at the church. Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
