Retired TSGT William Whitten served honorably in the United States Air Force for over 22 years. William enjoyed a variety of careers during his lifetime, officiating softball games; he was a bus driver for VIA Transit here in San Antonio for over 15 years. He also worked at UPS for over 19 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roosevelt and Edell Whitten.
He is survived by his siblings, Roosevelt Whitten Jr, Lillian “Moot” Wardlow, Claudia Whitten, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.
William married his high school sweetheart, Mina Whitten with whom he had three amazing children Sonja Whitten, William Whitten Jr. (his wife Olena and granddaughter Magdalena Whitten); and Sherisa Dvorsky (her husband Gary and grandchildren Alexandra, Natasha & Gary Dvorsky Jr. ). His second wife Nancy Hanna and daughter Kesha Martin (and granddaughter Phoenix Martin) also survive him as does his son Brandis Webster.
William is survived by his wife of 23 years Gloria Whitten and stepsons Thomas and Edward Moreno.
William loved making friends & having fun. He was the life of the party and he knew how to have a good time! He enjoyed bowling, playing dominoes, singing and dancing the day away, He was an avid sports fan of his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers and San Antonio Spurs. William was known for his sweet potato pie, collard greens, mac n cheese, cheesy grits and a few other culinary specialties he loved to make for family and friends.

Will didn't want sad faces, he wanted to throw one last party. A celebration of his life will be held Monday, February 13, 2023 at Ft. Sam Houston Golf Clubhouse immediately following his internment at Ft. Sam National Cemetery. The address is 1050 Harry Wurzbach, San Antonio TX 78209. There will be light refreshments and a cash bar. Please come celebrate the life of William Whitten with those that loved him.
