William Dix Keith (Bill) born September 15, 1931 in Fairview, Oklahoma, left his earthly home to be with the Lord on May 5, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents Homer Felix and LaVerne Levings Keith and brothers and sisters-in-law: Homer, spouse LaDonna and Charles, spouse Jean. Bill graduated from North High School in Wichita, Kansas in 1949. Bill enjoyed a long successful career as an accountant with Cudahy Meat Packing Company beginning in Wichita, Kansas, later transferring to Houston, then to San Antonio, Texas as office manager. After the closing of the San Antonio Cudahy location, he chose early retirement over an out of state transfer. He transitioned from his brief retirement to serve as facility co-administrator along with his wife, Frances, at Parland Place Community Living, Inc. “Mr. Bill,” as he was affectionately referred to by the Parland community, will be sorely missed by residents and employees along with all his surviving family members. Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed sports, conversations about politics, and hearing all about his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bill always looked forward to his trips to Wichita to visit family. He especially enjoyed the annual Thanksgiving golf game with his brothers, which was often played with snow on the ground. He was a baseball athlete in high school and also played on the company baseball team. Bowling was another sport enjoyed throughout his adulthood. He remained an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering for his favorite teams from the comfort of his living room with his spouse and children.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Frances Montemayor Keith, children Michael Keith and spouse Marilyn (San Antonio, TX), Ricky Keith and spouse Betsy (Houston, TX), Teresa (Keith) Haynes and husband Gordon Haynes (Houston, TX) and Step-daughter Debra Montemayor (Pickett) McCracken and spouse Tutt (Atlanta, GA), Grandchildren (Houston): Christopher, Justin, and Shawn Keith, Clayton and Kendall Haynes, Step-grandchildren (Atlanta): Chris and spouse Rachel Pickett, Derek and spouse Erica Pickett, Brian Pickett, Leigh Anne and spouse William King, Step-great grandchildren (Atlanta): Alexander, Isabella, Nathaniel and Lindsey Pickett, nieces Cynthia, Kathy, and Charla, and two nephews, Steven and David all from Wichita, Kansas.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 from 5-9pm with a rosary to be recited at 7pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas 78218. A funeral service will take place at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 9 am with entombment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
