Sorry for your loss. I was just reading an article and came across him. Was he the man who shot the man eater of Mfwue? If so, good for him for saving more lives.

I first met Bill when (I think) he was in high school and his sister, Marjorie. and I were freshmen in college at Our Lady of the Lake.  I have not seen him since Marjorie's funeral.  I always found him to be a pretty good guy.  I called his parents today just to check on them and they told me Bill had died.  This is rough on the entire family.  I am so sorry you have lost him and I will pray for him and those he left behind.  RIP Billy

When I was a very young engineer I started working in the Analog as SwRI.  Bill took the time and energy to teach and coach me daily on how to run an analog study.  He was always patient, helpful and professional.  I learned a great deal from Bill. Not only the engineering, but how to be a professional and just how to behave with care and patience. Especially when dealing with difficult clients. He was a big part of my formative years and set me on the right path.  Hard to believe it has been over 30 years ago.  

I have known Bill long before he met Cathy. I lived across the street with an old chevy and every morning I needed help with it. Bill would be right there. Then I met Ed and Cathy and we would all sit outside of Ed's garage and talk.  Ed and Bill used to talk shop and Ed would try to tell Bill he didn't need those expensive parts the cheaper ones would work just fine. Bill was a bit hard headed when he made up his mind. He was a very dear friend and will be missed. Once in a while he and I would talk on the phone. I am sorry to hear of his passing. Ed and Bill are having those shop talks in heaven. Love all you guys and I pray the Lord is comforting you and your family. 

I remember going on my very first helicopter ride with Bill out to a platform (Irene; off coast of California) for my very first offshore field study (2006).  I was a bit scared, but Bill had performed MANY similar projects and had no fear.  
While on the platform we saw sea lions, compressors, piping, equipment, and a beautiful sunset.  
I recall that he always spiced up his food with LOADS of pepper and Tabasco!
He was a great man who was an expert in his field, and he taught many people many lessons in life and work.  

Bill, having you as a colleague at Southwest Research Instiute was one of the highlights of my professional life.  You graciously taught me so much over the years…like some people can eat amazing amounts of pepper with their food.  I really enjoyed traveling with you (overseas in one case) during our many field studies over the years and I will cherish those memories.  My deepest condolences to Cathy and the entire Hosek family.  May you Rest In Peace, my friend.  You will be truly missed.

Bill was one of the nicest and most liked persons in our department at SwRI. He was always in a happy mood and I'll always remember him packing equipment for yet another trip to solve a problem for oil companies all over the world.
May our Lord grant him eternal peace. Our prayers to his entire wonderful family.

I worked with Bill for ten years at Swri. He was one of the most wonderful people to work with, in all my years. He was very smart and willing to teach patiently, while always showing joy in his work and in life. He will be waiting for us all to join him one day in the great beyond but for now, he is sorely missed.

Bill, it has been a privilege to be your friend for more than 28 years. I know that I am not alone in that respect  - you were a friend to everyone who met you.  Whether it was working together in some far flung part of the world, or celebrating July 4 at Medina lake, with you it was always an adventure. You left us all with so many fond memories. When I asked you about a week ago how you were doing, your answer was, as always: "I'm doing great, how are you?" Even with the significant challenges you faced in recent years, your sense of humor, wit, steadfastness, and positive outlook have always been truly inspiring. I wish you the peace that only God can bring. See you on the other side, buddy.
