William Dearing Harden III, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the age of 81. He was born on May 1, 1937 in Augusta, GA to William Dearing and Martha Lester Harden. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister: Flo McClure. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years: Alice Purdy Harden; children: Alice DuBose (Edwin), William Dearing Harden IV (Anne), James Lawrence (Rich Gottwald); grandchildren: Jeane Emily, Mary, Samuel, Isabella, Bennett; brother: Thomas Harden (Susan); and sister: Martha Villarreal (Claude).
Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with friends and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was friendly, curious, and loved military history. He loved to golf and was a long-standing member of choirs in Texas and Florida. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 2:30 pm at the Army Residence Community Center in the Cheever Chapel, 7400 Crestway Dr., San Antonio, TX 78239. Reception will follow immediately.
