William Hammell is survived by his wife, Marilyn Hammell; his four daughters, Kelley Hammell-Haselden, Kathy Hammell-Trevino, Sherri Hammell-Lawson and Shannon Hammell-Hurst; sons-in-law, Tracy Haselden, Raymond Trevino, Steve Lawson and Joe Hurst; five stepchildren, Crystal, Missy, Johnny, Daniel and Sam; 17 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.William "Bill" Hammell was born on May 11, 1938, in Ottawa, Canada. He is survived by his two siblings, Martin Brian Hammell and Wendy Hammell-Potterton, their respective spouses, and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernice and Robert Hammell; first wife, Donna Kealey-Hammell; sister, Penelope Hammell-Spurr; granddaughter Colleen and stepson Ron.William Hammell, also known by many as "Tom, Tommy or Bill" had a brief stint in the Canadian Navy, and ultimately served in the US Army, two tours in Vietnam, and retired after 20 proud years of service. He was a 32nd-degree mason; a member of the Killeen Masonic Lodge, AFAM.
A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, April 16, 2015 @ 1:30 pm at the Main Post Gift Chapel, 2301 Wilson Way Road, Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
