William Martin De Angelis of San Antonio, Texas died peacefully on October 16, 2022, at the age of 93. Born on July 22, 1929, son of William and Josephine De Angelis of Norristown, Pennsylvania. William attended Ursinus College until he enlisted in the United States Army Air Forces during the Korean War where he served in the decorated 1st Radio Squadron Mobile. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Psychology and Chemistry.
Shortly after graduation he married Nancy J. Kooser with whom he had five children. The family moved to Wilton, Connecticut in 1961.
During his lifetime William, known as Bill or Buddy, was an entrepreneur, inventor, historic preservationist, politician, and writer. He was proud of his hometown and was mayor from 1990–94.
In 1999 he married Yolanda Carenzo. They moved to San Antonio in 2001 and celebrated their twenty-third anniversary this summer.
William will be greatly missed by his wife Yoly C. De Angelis, his three sons and two daughters, and their families: Mark and Linda DeAngelis, Matthew De Angelis and Suz Friedrich, Christopher and Laurie DeAngelis, Sara DeAngelis and Archil Pichkhadze, Rebecca DeAngelis; grandchildren: Miles DeAngelis, Katherine and Alden Quimby, Elizabeth DeAngelis, Julie DeAngelis, Nye Pichkhadze, Henry Callan, and Jillian Callan; and great grandson: Ethan Quimby.
The family will hold a private memorial. In lieu of giving flowers the family asks that donations be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
