Mr. Carle was such a goofy man that had a nickname for all his students. Even after graduating high school I was still able to see him when I was working the radio station or when I came to see my mom at the high school. He had this smile you'd never forget. Mr. William Carle,
You were one of the first clients I met when I started working at Perrin 410 Animal Hospital.You became a sweet and treasured friend in the 3 years I knew you there.I always looked forward to your visits with all your doggies and kitties.You loved them all so much and my heart breaks to think of how they miss you now.Your passing has devastated me but I will keep our friendship forever in my heart.The void is definitely felt for everyone at Perrin 410 Animal Hospital.As for me,I cannot believe that I will never see your smiling face walk thru the door again.May God have mercy on your soul Mr.William.We love you.

Mr. Carle, what an enormous vacancy sign you have left in your absence. Walking away from the student led memorial on Friday , I was reminded of “Late Fragment” by Raymond Carver

The poem begins with the question,

You brought the Southside student body together: a true reflection of how beloved you were, are, and always will be “beloved on this earth.” 

We are broken  hearted over the loss of our long time SHS colleague, Mr. Carle—a beautiful soul who was so caring & made everyone feel like he was their best friend!  He will be greatly missed!

You always helped me out when i needed it. Was always there for me when i needed to talk. You always made me feel like i was needed and always made me happy just being there. You always made some of the dumbest jokes but that only added character. You were one of the purest hearted individuals ive ever known. You did so much and asked for so little in return. You made sure everyone who ever walked by your class was ok, even the students you didnt know. You were always smiling....even on the worst of days. You were so strong. You will forever be in my heart. You changed me into a better person. School will never be the same without you. Nobody will ever replace your smile....you were lost but you will never be forgotten. Your always in my heart. You were the father figure i never had in my life....thnk you for everything you ever did for me and everyone else.

Mr. Carle was a nice and caring teacher. He was always in good spirits and had a great passion for teaching. I am honored to have met him and he will be greatly missed. My condolences go out to his family.May he Rest In Peace and be with the angels.......

I was a Chemistry teacher at Southside about 10 years ago and I don’t remember many teachers outside of the Science dept., but I could never forget Mr. Carle. He went out of his way to introduce himself as I was new to the campus. He was always smiling, cracking jokes and had a very warm, calming presence. His students loved him dearly and always spoke so fondly of him.

Mr. Carle impacted the lives of so many people, both students and colleagues. He will never be forgotten.



My condolences to his family, students and friends. I was fortunate to have worked with Bill at Southside High School. A gentle man with a caring soul.  He loved his family dearly. Rest in heaven, my friend.

Mr.Carle was the kind of teacher that every single student should get to have once in their lifetime. He was so kind hearted and really put everything he had into his students. Not once when I had him did he make me feel like just part of his job. He took the time to know each and every person in class, made everyone laugh, and even had a board of previous graduates hanging up in his room. He was taken way too soon and will be missed deeply. I feel a little more at peace knowing God had a greater purpose for him up there. He is honestly getting one of the best. Sending lots of prayers to his family and loved ones. 

You will be truly missed Mr. Carle, you were such an awesome and funny teacher! I remember my first day at this school, it was my senior year and you struggled so much to say my name, whole year around! Mr Carle was an inspiration to many at Southside. He practiced what he preached! He attended a District PD over the Thanksgiving break, always looking for ways to improve as a teacher. A Life Long Learner. I pray that is his legacy at Southside: Never stop learning!

Mr. Carle was such a kind soul, truly loved his job and believed in every single one of his students. One of the greatest teachers to have ever taught at Southside, may he rest in peace. 

Mr.Carle was my government/economic teacher my senior year! He was my last class I had half day and always loved ending the day with him. What can I say? I didn't know you very well, but what I did know, I respected. The most important thing is that you made my very dear friend, Wendy, very happy. You were her rock, her port in the storm...you shared her life, her home and her fur babies. You were funny, kind, warm and generous...and you made everyone around you smile from ear to ear. You will be missed. 

Mr. Carle was my govt/economics teacher my senior year. He was an awesome & amazing teacher. He was a quiet, kind, patient & funny man.  Everybody on campus knew him because of his welcoming nature. He inspired many of us to become bigger than what we were. He always said that our dreams are reachable, we just have to work hard for it.  He impacted so many lives in such a positive way. Mr. Carle always had an open door policy. Whenever we needed someone to talk to or help with anything going on in our world, he was always there to listen, give advice, help with homework & make suggestions for outside help.  He was a teacher who loved to teach, not only his students, but any student on campus. He loved to teach & it showed every day. That's what made him an amazing teacher! He inspired many & his spirit will live on.  Rest in peace Mr. Carle. Your hard work here on earth is done. Your memory will live on through the hundreds of students whose lives you've touched. Mr. Carl was my teach my senior year. He really did care about his students and was always happy he believed in me and always told me that anything was possible no matter what. He is one of my reasons I continued my education and went to college. May you Rest In Peace and you will be missed.❤️

Mr.Carle was my High school Teacher.  He was Loving Smart, always had something exciting for us to learn. I can honestly say I was 1 of the students who gave him a hard time,but I was always exciting about going to his class to learn. Mr. Carle was always a happy and welcoming person. He’s gone but never forgotten. He always made everyone happy. He helped us calm down when we knew we had a big test coming.

Mr. Carle, you were the most welcoming teacher at SHS, even though I was terrified of taking an AP course you gave me and many other students confidence and dedication. Rest in Peace until we meet again.

Mr. Carle was such a gentle kind man. I first knew him as a student and him being my NHS sponsor. But my favorite memories of him is when he became a co-worker. When I started working at Southside he instantly remembered me. And we would have little chats in the break room. And I remember thinking you never think of your former teacher as a co-worker let alone a friend. He was so sweet and kind and always had a smile on his face and I could still hear him say “Hi miss Aimee”. Southside lost a great teacher. He was loved and touched so many lives. He will always be remember. 

 This just doesn’t feel real I can’t believe your really gone. Mr Carle was the best teacher I’ve ever had. He was so kind hearted and generous he always put a smile on my face and many others he always would crack random jokes in class and made everyone feel comfortable I’ll never forget all the memories I’ve made with him GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN fly high MR Carle🕊 you will be missed 

God gained another angel it still doesn’t feel real he was a very opened minded person and the greatest teacher at southside he made class fun always cracked random jokes and took pride in his teaching he cared for his students and made sure they were passing and understood the lesson we were on. Mr Carle it was truly a pleasure to work with you in the class room last year always smiling and never showed a bad day, you will be missed at Southside. I’ll never forget when you found out i was Michigan fan and you started singing the Ohio State fight song, and from there on out every time I wore the shirt you would sing the song. 

It's so sad to hear and see such a fun and caring man like yourself has gone to heaven so early Mr.Carle I know I never had you as a teacher but you will always come into my classes and talk to us about anything even though it wasn't about history and make us laugh I will cherish those moments I had with you and always remember the things you will tell me when u saw me walking to my class which was "it's the fraire brother " or "hurry up fraire brother your gonna be late to class"I'm gonna miss you saying that to me rest easy Mr Carle my thoughts and prayers go to your family fly high sir❤and thank you for your service

I had Mr. Carle as my teacher for two years while I was in high school. He always had a smile and a passion when he taught his class. He would always make jokes and lighten up the class. He became one of my favorite teachers in high school. I remember the times he would sell granola bars before going to lunch. Those were the days. Mr. Carle, you were an amazing person and teacher. May you rest in peace 

Mr. Carle was very welcoming to me from my first year at Southside in 2009. I believe he made us all feel at ease, even when times were tough - staff and students. His positive attitude and calmness were uplifting. I enjoyed talking with him about our shared experience of growing up and going to school in Ohio, and later becoming part of the San Antonio community. The students and I always appreciated his support for the band. A caring man who always wanted the best for his students and always willing to raise your spirits- you will truly be missed. 

Mr. Carle was one of the nicest human beings ive ever met. He will truly be missed. Class of 96!

Mr. Carle was a happy spirited man. I had the great pleasure of getting to know him as my teacher. My fondest memory would be his random jokes during our lessons. I send my prayers and condolences to his family and Mr. Carle thank you for all that you did. Rest In Peace. 

I met "Bill" as I knew him when I came to Southside HS in 2013. I was a new teacher who transferred from the Wyndham School District prison system and he made me feel at home at SSISD. When I told him my uncle (Antonio Torres) was a long-time math teacher before his death years back at Southside,  Bill connected the pieces of my uncle that I never know about him. I also remember the many times we would car-pool for SAT/ACT testing on Saturday mornings. Bill visited many times for lunch during our conferences as well. A very kind soul and always willing to help and guide. You will be missed and certainly never forgotten by those who served alongside you... Dr. T.

Mr. Carle was the true gentleman.  He was always polite and wanted the best for everyone.  We would chat a high percentage of workday mornings.  Our chats often consisted of life lessons and outcomes.  Thank you for always showing us the love.  You will always be remembered.

I had Mr. Carle my freshman and sophomore year and he’s been my favorite history teacher ever. I didn’t have him this year, but every day as I walk to my class I would pass by his classroom and he would always call me by my nickname Stevie “Night” Train.  
He told me my freshman year why he called me that and I’ll never forget that special moment we shared.
Mr. Carle you installed a lot in me through your class and you’ll truly be missed by myself and many students you taught in the passed.

I was honored to call him one of my best teachers in high school, I had the best time being able to communicate 1 on 1 with him during his lunch breaks and after school to better myself in his class or just to even ask about how the week is going or weekend was. There was also numerous times where we ran into each other outside of school and was a total good spirited person like he was in the classroom.Still in such disbelief of his passing may god bless his soul and condolences to his family.

Mr. Carle was a teacher of mine over twenty years ago. He had a passion for educating youth and a gentle, yet firm approach to encouraging students to be the best version of themselves. He helped me to understand that note taking is necessary for success but that laughter is a necessity for life. He had such a warm-hearted and caring disposition. I know that he impacted many lives, mine included. He will be missed deeply. Mr. Carpet was my NHS sponsor and he was always so nice and when I went back to SHS as a PO he remembered me and we got to reconnect. He was still the same and I wish he was able to retire knowing that his students became something. I miss him!

The greatest history teacher I ever had. Mr. Carle was amazing and the best motivator. You taught me things I never dreamt of learning and I carried them with me through my future endeavors. You didn’t just teach me just history lessons, but lessons on life. May you Rest In Peace and enjoy your new everlasting life in the kingdom of heaven. Amen. 

Me along with my two siblings all had him as a teacher. He was one of the kindest and most supportive teachers anyone could ever ask for. He was always positive, even on a rough day. He supported anyone and everyone and said hi to everyone who passed by his classroom. 
I haven’t seen him in 5ish years. Went to college, got a job. Like me, he left such huge impacts on many students and facilities lives. I hold back tears seeing all my old classmates sharing their own memories on social media. Gone too soon, but will never be forgotten.

I firsr met Mr. Carle when I was coaching at the High Schooll. He taught my oldest Son.  Mr. Carle taught many and made an impact in so many more.   My Son loved his class. Our prayers and condolences go out to the family of Mr. Carle.  A Teachers legacy lives forever in their students. Fly high with the Angels, Mr.  Carle. Rest in God's Paradise.

Mr. Carle Had a passion for teaching. He went above and beyond to help students, staff and anyone he knew. Mr. Carle was unceasingly dedicated to the betterment of his students and community. I was very fortunate to have him as my HS professor and later colleague. You will be missed.
