Professor William Bradford Bugg died peacefully in his sleep Saturday morning, April 13, 2002, after a brief hospitalization in San Antonio, Texas. He was born October 25, 1940 in Troup, TX. Professor Bugg was educated at the University of Texas at Austin and Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. He retired as a Professor of English at San Antonio College, where he had taught for thirty years. He was descended from the Order of the First Families of Virginia and Americans of Royal Descent. He was a member of the Society of Descendants of the Knights of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, as well as a Life Member of the Plantagenet Society. Professor Bugg was particularly proud of his active involvement in Los Patronatos, an organization which funds scholarships for students specializing in Latin American culture. An avid opera lover, he was a charter member of the Opera Guild of San Antonio. He was preceded in death by his parents, ElRay Bugg and Mary Katherine Ayers Bugg; and a brother, Willis Lemuel Bugg IV. He is survived by: his brother, Luis B. Bugg; his sister, Jeffie Wilson of Tyler, TX; nieces, Jennifer Bugg May of Italy, TX, Julie Bugg Croom of Dallas, TX and Katherine Bugg Keener of Houston, TX; two great nieces and a great nephew.
