Wenona Fay Kerley Kennedy Rosenfeld, 91, died on April 28, 2013 in San Antonio, Texas. Adventure was her middle name! Holy cow did Noni like to dance, travel, do all kinds of art and tell you a thing or two!
She was born on July 25, 1921 in Mart, Texas to Arthur and Gracie Kerley. She was preceded in death by her brother, Latham, sweetest man on earth and her sister Wanda Lee, boy could those Kerley sisters sing and dance. Her love of adventure started as a girl, picking cotton and traveling with her family to Houston to escape the hard times of the depression.
An artist, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, she just couldn't get enough of painting and sculpting (still working on a piece of sculpture of her grandchildren at 90) Travel was just about her most favorite thing to do in the world. From month long art classes in Italy to Grand Canyon hiking with Glenda Goehrs, her favorite niece, friend and travel buddy, she loved adventure.
She married Eddie Kennedy in the early years of WWII and had three daughters, Dr. Judy Kennedy, Jo Lessner (husband Tom) and Mary Ann Kennedy. In 1960 she married Buddy Rosenfeld and inherited her wonderful son Denny Rosenfeld (wife, Lynn) Buddy preceded her in death in 2009. Her grandchildren are Shelli Alford, Stacie Alford, Vaughn Grabarkewitz, Kimberly Benner, Darryl Rosenfeld, Neal Grabarkewitz, Heather Rosenquist, Thomas Lessner, Elizabeth Hochart, and Patrick Lessner. Great grandchildren are Katie, Winston, Grace, Mathew, Michael, Max and Grant, Lauren, Anna, Eve and Nicole and Ander and Avi. She had to answer to a lot of crazy grandmother names like, grandma, coo-coo, doc-coo, well you get the picture. Her Wednesday Ladies Book Club was a highlight of her week as well as gardening at her home in Mission Trace. Unity Church of San Antonio was her spiritual home; she loved the great energy and friendliness there not to mention the terrific music. It gave her so much comfort. Rev Linda could do no wrong in her eyes (ours either).
Services will be held at Porter Loring Funeral Home North at 10am on Thursday, May 9, 2013, 2102 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, Texas. If the spirit moves you, Noni would love you to donate to Unity Church of San Antonio (www.unityofsa.org) or Cibolo Creek Nature Center, 140 Park Pl., Boerne, TX 78006.
