Walter Dent DuBose passed away May 7, 2013 at the age of 71. He was born in Alice, Texas on December 27, 1941 to Clifton and Rosalie Pettit DuBose. He graduated from TX A&I in 1964. Incredibly proud of his country, Walter served in the United States Air Force Reserves as a MSgt. from 1965-1992 and worked Civil Service at Kelly AFB and Randolph AFB from 1966 until he retired in 2007.
Walter had a passion for amateur radio and was a HAM since he was 16. His radio sign was K5YFW and he was active with many HAM organizations, including serving as an Assistant Director of AARL West Coast Gulf Division. He was also a member of Castle Hills First Baptist Church and was active with the Texas Baptist Men’s Disaster Relief Ministry.
Walter was preceded in death by his twin daughters and is survived by the love of his life Susie Ann Hood DuBose, his two sons Daniel Dent and Lawrence Morgan and wife Tina, and two granddaughters Danielle and Kennedy.
He will be greatly missed by those who knew him. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciations to Odyssey Hospice for their compassion in taking care of Walter.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 12, 2013 from 4-6pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas 78218. A Celebration of Life Service will be at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, May 13, 2013 at 12pm with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Walter’s name to Texas Baptist Men Disaster Relief fund, 5351 Catron, Dallas, Texas, 75227 or through their website at www.texasbaptistmen.org.
