Virginia Lee Robinson Wheeler was born in Cisco, Texas on July 21, 1925. She was the first born of James Aaron Robinson and Anita Caroline Simpson. Sister & best friend, Donna Carolyn, was born two years later. Virginia attended Rising Star High School and graduated valedictorian of her senior class. She went on to Texas Women’s University, majoring in art history. During summer vacation, Virginia worked at General Dynamics in Fort Worth, Texas. Her handsome young supervisor, Boyd Wheeler, asked her out and proposed on their second date! Virginia & Boyd were married on December 15, 1944 in the chapel of First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth, Texas. After living in Long Beach, California, where their two children were born, they made their home in Fort Worth. She was a devoted mother and homemaker, serving her family and others with a loving heart. She volunteered at the Children’s Easter Seal Center in Fort Worth and as an elementary reading tutor. Always compassionate and generous, she would serve those in need with words of encouragement, meals, visits, and donations. She was also a gifted artist, seamstress, quilter and needle worker. Virginia loved her Lord Jesus and was dedicated to studying His Word. She faithfully taught children’s Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. Virginia was an active member of Wichita Street Baptist Church in Fort Worth, TX; Field Street Baptist Church in Cleburne, TX; and Grace Fellowship Baptist Church in San Antonio, TX. Virginia’s legacy of faith and love is passed on to her family: son, Doug and Susan Wheeler of Spring, TX; daughter, Donna and Mike Watts of San Antonio, TX; four grandchildren, Ron Wheeler of Fort Worth, TX; Matt & Katie Watts in South East Asia; Erin & Wes Stecker of Forney, TX; and Jon & Laura Watts of Winston Salem, NC. She delighted in her seven great grandchildren: Alathia, Abigayle, Aidan, Will, Jenna, Kelsey, and Riley. Other beloved family members were Carolyn & Mike Hatfield; Jim & Robin Rominger; and Jim & JoAnn Wheeler. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to Grace Fellowship Baptist Church, San Antonio, Texas or the Salvation Army. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Cleburne, TX.
