Velia Ida Aguirre Moran

Velia Ida Aguirre Moran (aka Tia Billie) was born on Mar. 23, 1932 in Karnes City, Tx to parents Francisco Guerrero Aguirre Sr. & Carolina Guerrero Aguirre.

Velia's fraternal half-siblings were Gustavo Aguirre Sr, Lilly Aguirre Espinoza & Beatrice Aguirre.

Velia's full-siblings were: Francisco Aguirre Jr. (Kiko), Rebecca Aguirre Rodriguez, Eliu Aguirre (Shorty), Jesus Efrain Aguirre Sr. (Jesse), Arnulfo Aguirre Sr. (Nuco), Armando Aguirre (Mando), & Petra Aguirre(died in infancy). All of her siblings had preceded Velia in death.

Velia is survived by her three children; Nathan Jeffery Moran (wife Kathleen), Chris Moran, Jacqueline Ann Moran Coronado (husband Michael). Grandchildren; Fiona Elizabeth Moran Revels (husband John), Kristopher Moran Coronado (wife Violet), Antonia Frances Moran (wife Becky), Erik Michael Coronado, Kayla Nicole Coronado, and great grandchildren: Iris Aurora Coronado, Oliver Favio Coronado, & Emilio Kit Moran.

Velia earned a diploma at the Johnson's Beauty Academy of hair dressing on the 4th of May 1953, and numerous advanced hair styling certifications. she worked 15 years at Plaza Beauty Salon on the Southside of San Antonio and 20 years at Morningside Meadows to retirement in 1997. She was very creative and enjoyed painting in acrylic, crochet, knitting, and quilting projects. She ensured all her children and grandchildren had their very own quilt. She stayed physically and socially active at the Bob Ross Senior Center on Babcock Road.

Our mother was thoughtful, and kind,fun loving and generous in her love. She will be sadly missed. Velia passed due to complications of Alzheimer's.

A public visitation for Velia will be held on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024 at 11:00 AM with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 PM; reception will follow in the Sunflower Room at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Rd, San Antonio TX 78238.
