We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Ugo, a wonderful neighbor and friend. Ugo was always so sweet and full of joy, with a smile that could brighten anyone's day. He was truly a family man who loved to dance, make others smile, and was always surrounded by those he loved. As neighbors, we often looked forward to seeing him outside, whether he was exercising or spending time with his family. His presence brought so much positivity to our lives.

Ugo was not just a good man; he was an exceptional husband, father, friend, and neighbor. Ugo Ugo,  it’s hard to say goodbye. It’s hard to know you will not be there to answer my many WhatsApp messages. It’s still so surreal. Ugo you were a beacon of hope to many and the peace that you exude was felt by everyone around you. You were a dedicated father and a perfect husband. It is with sadness that I wrote this because my heart is still heavy. Like they say God knows best, but I know you are resting in the bosom of the Lord. I am struck with deep sorrow as I sit here and type this because I have refused to believe that you have left us. The news of your passing hit hard but we will continue to hold on to the memories you left behind. I had the chance of meeting Ugo through his beautiful wife Vwaire in 2010 when I was contacted to go shopping for their wedding, which I am so glad I obliged to because that afforded me the opportunity to meet this great couple who became family friends, to share so many memories together with . Ugo was a family man with unique family values and no wonder he always welcomed my family and I with open arms and a large smile on his face.  We would banter about our similarities especially when he found out that my Mother was Igbo.  Ugo, you have gained your angel wings and I’m sure you are rocking your signature hats up there. Keep watching over your beautiful family. We miss you and God knows best.

Ugo was my neighbor when my family moved into our new home.  He was the 1st to welcome my family to the neighborhood. We always had good chats bout sports an military items when we spoke. Even though we didn't do much other than say hi an the occasional chat, he will be sorely missed by my family. I will miss our chats.

We have read the memories shared by family. Ugo was a cherished neighbor who always made everyone feel welcome and part of his family. Meeting Ugo meant meeting his family and becoming a part of his world. He was always ready to lend a helping hand without expecting anything in return and consistently found the positive side of any situation. Ugo was constantly engaged in projects, and it was hard to not help him because he would be the first to help you in return. He was often seen walking through the community with his children and his walking stick, making rounds to greet and catch up with neighbors. Ugo was immensely proud of his family, his wife Vwaire and his children, and his love for them was evident whenever he spoke of them. Our family will always remember and miss his presence in our community. To us, Ugo was not just a neighbor but a friend and a great example of someone who prays without ceasing. He will be deeply missed.

God puts people in the right places at the right times, and that’s how I met Ugo and Kobe. I am a barber and one day a man comes in with a child and as I approach him, he ask me for a haircut for him and his son. I sat Kobe down in the seat and within a blink of an eye Kobe leaned forward to get out of the chair in a head dive towards the floor! Luckily I caught him right before and Ugo, who had turned around, turned back around, astonished to see Kobe in my arms! He was completely embarrassed but I thought it was funny. Kobe was a struggle to get through his haircut but we made it. As I cut Ugo’s hair we started to talk and he told me that Kobe was being tested for Autism. I shared with him that my nephew has Autism and part of me moving closer to my family was to be a bigger part of my nephew’s life. I like to think that I was able to give him hope and encouragement through a tough time. I did not expect that over the next year the two of us would become close enough to share A LOT! Ugo became one of my best friends, and Kobe and I created a routine and I like to think friends too! I’m going to miss you brother…

I am deeply saddened and shocked by the sudden loss of Ugochukwu. He left this world far too soon, but the impact of his life will be felt for generations to come. He was a man of faith, family, and unwavering devotion.

As a husband to my dear friend and sister Vwaire, Ugo exemplified love and commitment. His marriage was a testament to the power of partnership and mutual respect. He took great care of Vwaire, his children, and family. As a father, he poured his heart into raising Kamso, Kosi & Kobi, instilling in them values that will guide them throughout their lives.

Ugo's love extended beyond his immediate family. He was a caring son, a supportive son-in-law and son to Lady K, a dependable brother-in-law to Ese, Oke, Mavi and Runor, and a cherished sibling. He was always present at family gatherings and brought joy and laughter, creating memories that will be treasured forever. His genuine interest in others and his readiness to lend a helping hand made him a true friend to many.

A devout Christian, Ugo's faith was the cornerstone of his life. He lived his beliefs daily, showing compassion and kindness to all he encountered. His spiritual journey inspired those around him and brought comfort to many. As a veteran and combat medic, Ugo served this country with honor and dedication to duty.

While Ugo's passing leaves a void in our hearts, we find solace in the countless lives he touched and the love he shared. His legacy lives on through his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him.

Ugochukwu naa nke oma o... Kachifo

Ugochukwu was such a kind-hearted, outspoken and energetic brother that cared deeply for his family and friends. He was so willing to help everyone in any way that he could, and went out of his way to make sure his people were comfortable.  I will never forget being welcomed into their home as a stranger and being treated like family from day 1. He always left a lasting impression wherver he went. He will be terribly and sorely missed. May God give this family peace and comfort, and may his soul rest peacefully in God's embrace.

I was in shock to hear about Ugo’s passing. Ugo was a wonderful human, a high achiever, and a great friend. Ugo had the kindest heart. He was an incredible father, always making time for his kids and taking them to all their extracurricular activities. He had great plans for them. 
Dancing late into the night with the kids until Ali said, “I don tire!”
 I remember Joyful moments and cherished memories of our shared love for Tom Brady and watching the Super Bowl. Ugo will be greatly missed!!! His warmth and enthusiasm will always be remembered!!!

Exactly thirty(30) days ago, my life and family were jolted to our very foundation. Ugochukwu Izuka Okpara, whom I fondly call UGO BEY! The Bey of my tribe! Okpara mi, because, he was unarguably my first son, as our relationship transcended that of a son-in-law to a mother-in-law. 

He indeed lived up to the billing creditably in all ramifications. Is it his personal love and care; his ever willing to do just about anything I found challenging on account of age, like helping with the wheel chair during trips, without seeing it as a burden; fixing my light bulbs and television/cable even when I'll usually leave them unattended while he's away from home; or is it the various mementoes he brings from wherever his work or vacation take him et al?  It's a litany of great deeds that could only come from a heart of deep love. 

He was indeed a big brother to all other sons and daughters of mine. He blessed me with three(3) wonderful grand-children, Kamso Ellora, Kosi Raziela and Kobi Asher, who light up my life. He gave me the great privilege of being the official Reviewer of his book, an autobiography of sorts, for which I'm eternally grateful. 

The pain of his sudden homecall is intense and indescribable. I only draw strength from  God's Word the Bible. I know he's in a better place and we shall all meet again on the Resurrection morning wearing his ever-present smile. I bless and appreciate God for the 43yrs the Bey shared with us. He shall be sorely missed. May God order our steps, as we trudge on with his darling wife Vwaire, the children and the rest of the family, in our journey through life, which has changed immensely for us, without him. The Lord remains our strength.

It is 4weeks this happened and it is still as unreal as it sounded on the day this happened. 

Our life is changed forever, I see people moving ahead with their life's and I scream inside me that it is not fair!!!!

My sincerest and deepest sympathy goes out to this beautiful family. Ugo was an awesome brother in Christ. We would often run into one another at the bus stop picking up our children. Sometimes it would be at the school and every now and then it would be at the gym. He was a man that was larger than life. The type of person that you feel drawn to because of a warmth and love of life that they have. We would share sermons or scripture with one another. His girls both attended birthday parties for our girls. His smile and hug were always welcomed by me. I am a better man for the short time that I knew him and I know that I already miss him dearly. I also know that my brother was a believer and had great faith and though it is not ours to understand God wanted my brother home. Ugo until we see one another again my brother God bless you and your beautiful wife and daughters.

TRIBUTE TO MY BROTHER, UGO!
No matter how many times I tried shifting the day to write my goodbye piece to you, the day still finally came. 
It’s so difficult trying to write you a goodbye note, but even more difficult is articulating how I feel with your absence. 

Known for your smile, love, care, kindness and support to those whom you came across in your short sojourn on earth makes it very hard to come to terms with your demise. 

You loved us from your 1st contact with us. You ensured we always had a reason to be joyful. You didn’t hold back in defending your own. You spared nothing and no one in being the best husband, the loving father, a worthy son, a genuine sibling and a loyal friend. You celebrated everyone whenever you had the opportunity, appreciating every and anyone that much as showed kindness to you and your loved ones. One, whom family meant everything to! Your virtues were truly your identity!

It was beautiful to watch how you went all out for the Kingdom of God. A very dutiful and joyful Kingdom steward you were. The many lives you touched through your foundation and even the ones you  never met, are all a testament of you walking the Word of God. 

Alas! This beautiful pilgrimage had to come to an end! The consolation is in knowing that you remained a friend of God. I thank God for the life He empowered you to lead. You are deeply missed but reassured that you are in a better place with your heavenly Father, far from corruption. 

Your words of counsel will remain treasured and will be a continuous motivation to reach out for my goals. You remain loved and your fond memories will remain etched in my heart.

One of the greatest honors Ugo bestowed upon me was asking me to be Kobi’s godfather. Now, with three sons of my own, I can only pray for the guidance to fill such big shoes.

We met Ugo at the daycare parking lot, while he was looking for a daycare for his son and also waiting on his daughters that were attending Karate right next to the daycare. Once he saw me, he called my attention and introduced himself asking for feedback on the daycare. We talked for awhile,  and later connected with his family. 
For the short amount of time we have experienced  his presence,  he was always in a good mood and  full of life. I can still recall the last time I saw him at HEB, he had just gotten out of the gym,  yet he decided to get on a scooter, just for the fun of it.  He was a joy to be around, always  present and conversational. 
Ugo may your soul rest in peace 🙏,  we will miss your vibrant spirit. 
We pray that God will fill the gap that you have left behind, he will provide and  consol your family.

I will forever hold dear the memories of his kindness, humor, and the unshakable love he had for those around him.

Orgummmmmmmmmm! Was always the first thing I screamed whenever we had a chat or met. From the first day we met, you were more than an in-law. 

You became a part of our lives. Your presence a pivotal milestone marker that opened doors of endless possibilities. You became a dearly beloved brother. An awesome dad who made me an aunt. You showed true strength and dedication in all you accomplished. As a brother, you pulled no punches. The birthdays with your surprises were always epic. The husband to my sister who set a standard all our husbands would have to consider a starting point. A son, who wiped the tears and sorrows of years past for our mother as she experienced the joys of having a son. 

I can't believe after singing, praying and laughing with you on your birthday am now writing a tribute about the great person you were. Your infectious laughter will continue to ring in my ears. 
Your profound point of views on deep topics will never be shared with me again. 
Your birthday surprises won't top the last which was also the most epic. 

The Bey of our tribe is no more and although your loss will forever be felt, I am thankful for the many memories you've left in your wake.  Every falling star will remind us of the sparkle in your eyes.  Every sound of laughter will remind us of the smiles you brought to our faces.

Although Ugo's life was short, I'm grateful for the memories that we shared. From talking and banting about Ertuğrul to driving me to the hospital when I was in labour (twice!) and celebrating me with cake, gifts and balloons at every opportunity! 

Ugo cared for me and my kids like a true bro, and I often teased him by calling him "Grandpa Ugo" for playing a grandpa role.

Ugo may be gone, but he is not and will not be forgotten.

Ugo was an incredible father to his children. He would always ask questions and was very involved in his childrens’ care. When he would come into the lobby of the therapy clinic, everyone would turn to him and smile. He would always tell jokes and laugh with others. He was always a positive human and so kind and understanding! He loved his family more than anything in the world and showed up for his people when they needed him most. The world has lost a bright light but his legacy will live on through his family.

It’s still so shocking that I am writing this and this is the last time I’ll get to greet you. From the first time I met you in the old SC house, when you came to see Cousin Vwaire you have always been so kind, gentle, and a man with a big smile at every moment. It’s sad to say that you are one of the few men I have met that has been so cool and made me believe that there are good men out there. Which has made it even more difficult to  say goodbye. You have not only loved, provided, and protected my big cousin/sister but also have been not only a just father but a present, loving, and protective DAD for my nieces and nephew. And for that I can only say thank you. 
It has always been a joy getting to know you and to call you family. It has continuously been fun to see you at many milestones for yourself and for those around us and I know you will continue to be there with us. You brought your love for dancing, having fun, food, and family wherever you went. While also continuing to do what you loved. I believe you will continue to do so even if we aren’t able to see you do so. But I  know that you will continue to protect and guide Cousin Vwaire, Kamso, Kosi, and Kobi in every way, shape, and form. 
I pray that you enter in the Lord’s bosom and rest in peace. We will miss you.

Hmmmmmmm I cannot believe that I am writing this. Ugo you surprised me with this sudden exit. No good bye. Who would have thought that the last time I would see you physically was June 14th when you came to Oshiogwe’s graduation in California or when we both spoke on the 23rd of July. Life they say is really a mystery because I really cannot make sense of this. 

Ugo you have left your mark in this world. There was no one you encountered that does not have a good thing to say about you. Always smiling and making people happy comes natural to you. 

We love ❤️ you but God loves you more. Your family will be well taken care of. Sleep on sweet nephew till we meet on resurrection morning.

Is kind of surreal to write this tribute to my friend and brother Ugo. When we both spoke on Friday 19th July, 2024, you were full of life and there was no single hint that our conversation that day will be the last. 
Ugo was a kind, humble and ever present friend, son,  brother , dad and husband.

I can not believe that I’m writing this about you, you were someone who was so full of life and would light up a room as soon as you walked in, your sense of humor was top-tier, and you were such an amazing role model to my siblings and me, the way you cared about all of us was like we were your children, I still remember the times you would come over to our house for home cell and we would always have a great time in Gods presence and we also had a good laugh, I remember when you went out of your way to ensure that my siblings and I were ok during hurricane Harvey ensuring that we had food in our house you came to pick us up and took us to the store to get some necessities, the times that you took us out to basketball games, events even just coming over to your house during the super bowl (you low key caused me to become a patriots fan even if I knew nothing about football) are all now core memories that I can now think back on and smile, I thank God that he put you in my life as I role model as someone that I can look up to, I thank God for your wonderful and blessed family, I pray that God will strengthen them and be with them in this very difficult time, may the Lord grant you eternal rest for this is not a good bye but a see you later Uncle Ugo

Dear Brother Ugo,

I can’t believe I am writing this about you, my dear brother and friend. This is incredibly difficult for me. You were so full of life, always radiating joy wherever you went. Your ability to celebrate others' successes with genuine happiness was a testament to your generous spirit and desire to see everyone around you thrive.

Your love for God shone brightly through your service in His vineyard, especially during your time as our Home Cell Minister at Winners Chapel International, Houston TX, and later at the Spring TX branch, from 2015 to 2017. Your dedication and punctuality, despite your busy schedule, inspired us all. You were a pillar of strength and wisdom, always ready with a kind word or a contagious laugh to lift our spirits.

Your love and devotion to your family, particularly your daughters, were evident in everything you did. You never took them for granted, cherishing every moment with them. Brother Ugo, your presence in our lives was a blessing beyond measure, and your memory will continue to inspire and guide us.

You meant so much to me, and it hurts me to know that I will never get to thank you for the valuable contribution and impact you made on my life. When you came into my life when I was 12, and you stepped into the Mentor and Father Figure role for me it meant everything. I always looked forward to seeing you every Saturday when you came over for Homecell. You were like Superman to me, you always kept things real with me and always cared for me like I was one of your own. I always knew I could rely on you for anything you were always one call or text away, I have so many memories with you and it hurts deeply to know that I will never get to see you again or get to hear your voice. I had plans of inviting you to my Wedding and my College Graduation because you truly helped shape me into the young man I am today. There was not one day you could be around Uncle Ugo and be sad. His vibrant energy and contagious smile made everyone around him to have no choice but to be happy. All you ever wanted was the best for me and you always steered me in the right direction and never lead me wrong, you always wanted me to not make the same mistakes you made in life. I wish I reached out more often just to speak to you and catch up with you. You were such a good person and a great influence on me, my mind can’t comprehend you being gone this early because you were so lifeful and had so much more to give to this world. You never played around about me and always let me know that you had my back no matter what. And at that time in my life I really needed that it meant so much to me to have someone to go that hard behind me without wavering, I’m really going to miss you and I will never forget you and will definitely will never forget the impact you had on me. I pray that God will give you eternal rest  and that he would comfort your family during this hard time.
