Tony Barbosa

Tony Barbosa was born on January 1, 1934 in Weslaco, TX, at 6 A.M. and passed on Saturday morning, March 9, 2024, at the age of 90. A son, a brother, a father, an uncle, a grandfather, and a great grandfather. He was born in an era of many hardships, but through perseverance, moral ethics, integrity, and honesty he overcame life’s obstacles.

Tony attended Weslaco high school and was part of the track and football teams. He went to Pan American College in 1952 where he was the first in his family to receive a college degree in accounting. He began his career in Weslaco as a bookkeeper and after a few years moved to San Antonio to further his career as a Certified Public Accountant. In 1970, he partnered and began his own practice.

Upon his return to Weslaco in 1990, he began to attend church where he was baptized and God became a priority. Subsequently, he became a church leader and helped establish two churches, Belen and Nuevo Pacto. His love for God resounded in his life until the end.

He is survived by his wife Lidia, seven children Cynthia, Mark, Randy, Rose, Saul, Marie, and Yvette, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera road San Antonio, Texas 78238 on Friday March 22, 2024 beginning at 6:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. A Funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 A.M Saturday March 23, 2024 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
