He was a 1962 graduate of Sidney Lanier High School. He retired after 24 years of service in The United States Air Force and served as an Aircraft Mechanic for American Airlines. He served four tours in support of the Vietnam War for the United States of America. He received The Presidential Unit Citation Award.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Esteven and Sofia Galvan; siblings, Andrew Galvan, Adam Galvan, Martin Galvan, Carmen Luna and Minita Soto.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maria Florez Galvan; sons, Gary P. Galvan (Elida De La Garza); Mark Galvan (Debbie Galvan); grandchildren, Marissa Galvan and Joseph De La Garza; great grandson, Joseph De La Garza Jr.; sister, Anita Leos and her husband, Santos Leos; sister-in-law, Gloria Galvan.
The Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, TX 78237 followed by a Rosary to be recited 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will be held in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, TX 78209.
