Tod Richard Vahle, 43, was called home to the Lord on February 20, 2015 after a fierce battle against cancer. Tod is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Suzanne Parker Vahle, and sons Zachary (19) and Jared (16), mother Vicki Vahle, father Michael (Cynthia) Vahle, sister Melanie (Terrance) Langhorne and children Kolin Toliver, Riley Mae Vahle, and Quincy Langhorne, and paternal grandparents Charles and Carol Vahle of Quincy, IL, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Tod was born in Inglewood, CA to a military family who then spent three years in the United Kingdom before relocating to San Antonio in 1976. Tod graduated from Judson High School, Class of 1989, and soon afterward enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served as a Radioman from 1990-1996 at the Naval Ordnance Station, Indian Head, in Maryland; the Naval Air Station Jacksonville, in Florida; and aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Saratoga. It was while stationed at Indian Head that Tod met and married the love of his life, Suzanne. After an Honorable Discharge from the military, Tod returned to his hometown of San Antonio to become a U.S. Postal Service letter carrier--a career he loved for 19 years and where he made many, many life-long friends.
A loving father and husband, son and brother, Tod always put his family first. He was smart, funny, and a hard worker who was always ready to lend a helping hand. He was also a video gaming whiz who taught his sons everything he knew invoking their competitive gaming nature!
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 1st starting at 1:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 N. Loop 1604 E in San Antonio immediately followed by a reception from 2:00-4:00 p.m.
