Thomas Ray Christopher, 67, was born on April 2, 1949 in Annapolis, Maryland to the parents of James Franklin and Dorothy Fay. He became an angel on February 18, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. He is preceded in death by both of his parents and his oldest son, Thomas Ray Christopher, Jr (11/14/01). He is survived by his wife of almost 47 years, Catrina Christopher (of San Antonio, TX), daughter Anita Lara and husband Lawrence (of San Antonio, TX), daughter Adria Bustamante and husband Gilbert (of San Antonio, TX), son Michael Christopher and wife Cindy (of Gilroy, CA), and 13 grandchildren – Arik, Thalia, Pierce, Luke, Aedan, Caleb, Brendan, Sarah, Kaylee, Jessica, Tyler, Hayden, and Johnny; brothers, James Christopher ( Ridgely, MD), and Louis Reimer (Annapolis, MD), and sisters, Mary Guseman (Conway, SC) and LouAnn Alderton.
Tom proudly served in the Vietnam War and retired from the United States Army at the rank of 1SG after 30+ years. He became a Master Mason in 1988 in Parkland, WA where he later became Worshipful Master of Parkland/Lakewood Lodge #299 and Evergreen State Lodge #68, F&AM. Tom also served Washington State F&AM as Deputy of the Grand Master, District No. 15. In 2007, after he retired, Tom relocated to San Antonio where he affiliated with Davy Crockett Lodge #1225 AF&AM. Tom was also a Past Worthy Patron of Faith Chapter #255 and Cedar Chapter #173 in Washington and Alamo Heights Chapter #734 in San Antonio, Order of the Eastern Star. He enjoyed supporting the Masonic Youth Organizations by serving as Rainbow Dad for the Rainbow Girls and Chapter Dad of DeMolay in Washington.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 28th from 6-9pm at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio. Services will be held on Wednesday, March 1st at 9:30 am at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home located at 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio. Burial services will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Thomas Christopher Memorial Fund at Security Service Credit Union. The proceeds will go to the WA/ID Rainbow Dads Scholarship Fund.
