Terry M. Karl, 64, died May 18, 2016, with her husband and sister, Cindy, by her side in San Antonio, Texas.
A memorial celebration of her life will be held in Miami, Florida in the near future.
She was born February 24, 1952, in Cienfuegos, Cuba to Delfin and Noelia Marti. The family immigrated from Cuba to South Florida in 1961.
Terry spent much of her working career as a researcher and administrator for Coulter Corporation (later Beckman-Coulter). The company motto “Science Serving Humanity” was also the mantra which Terry adopted as her commitment to her career.
Her interests included a life-long study of medicine; she was an avid Nascar racing fan and enjoyed traveling. After being diagnosed with end-stage renal disease in 1997, she spent the next 19 years as a very strong advocate for improved care for other kidney patients.
Terry is survived by her husband, Robert Dingley; father, Delfin Marti; brothers, Jose Marti and Delfin Mule and their spouses; sisters, Emilia (Cindy) Simms, Merci Germano and their spouses; daughter, Deborah Acuna; son, Norbert Karl; two grandchildren, Daniel and Christopher Acuna.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Noelia Marti; sister, Eva Garcia; first husband, Norbert Karl
