Sylvia Pena

Sylvia was born on January 1, 1942 to Victoria and Pedro Pulido. Shortly after graduating from Burbank High School in 1960, she met the love of her life, Rogelio G Pena, owner and operator of a grocery store in San Antonio on Nogalitos Street. After dating for a short period of time, they wed in 1965. They had 5 children, Roger, David, Marisol, Lori, and Daniel.

Sylvia was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Sylvia had a powerful and unwavering love for her kids and grandkids. She loved being around her kids, but especially her grandkids teaching them life’s lessons and to be a servant of God. She was a real estate entrepreneur and a savvy business woman establishing herself as a role model to the family around her. She taught her family to be investment minded and to have a strong work ethic. However, her greatest and most important achievement and passion was devoting her life to serve God. As a Mom, Sylvia taught her kids about kindness, forgiveness and humility. She led her family to love the word of God and to surrender their lives to Jesus Christ. Her greatest desire was to ensure that the whole family would accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior so that one day they will all be reunited in heaven. Sylvia provided a foundation of love and kindness to her family and always knew the right thing to say when anyone needed encouragement, advice or simply a shoulder to cry on. She continually prayed for happiness, prosperity, and safety of every family member. Sylvia loved to tell people about our Lord and Savior and never missed an opportunity to share the gospel and pray with whomever she met.

When Sylvia wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found painting, crafting, refurbishing furniture and home-decorating which were some of her many hobbies that she loved to do.

Sylvia was predeceased by her parents, Victoria and Pedro, her husband, Rogelio G. Pena, and her sisters, Lydia, Helena, and Gracie. She is survived by her children, Roger, David, Marisol, Laura, and Daniel. Her brother Arturo Pulido and her sisters Alice Pineda and Lucy Hernandez as well as 13 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A visitation for Sylvia will be held Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will occur Friday, February 18, 2022 at 8:30 AM at the funeral home with a committal service at 10:00 AM at Resurrection Cemetery at Cordi-Marian.
